I think he took the right approach, but all you're going to see in response by a lot of conservatives is excuses.  Hell, Obama could've done something really strange and blamed liberals, and some conservatives would still have a conspiracy to indulge in.

Granted, I'm not saying this is solely what happens to Obama.  A lot of liberals said some stupid shit against Bush no matter what he did.

We've basically passed the point of no return when it comes to restoring rationality among a significant portion of Americans, so all you can do is be rational yourself and try to ignore the crazies on both sides.  The more you pay attention to them, the more depressed you get.

Blaming the left or the right is pretty fucking stupid. Why aren't we seeing hundreds of these killings going on if rhetoric is to blame? Obviously there was little logic going on in loughner's brain. He began shooting indiscriminately. Do you know what that means? His mental wiring was all wrong. (note: i am not making a case for insanity) Anyone who has studied the mind of a psychopath knows that ANYTHING can set them off. Yes, there are some people who are motivated by extreme politics. But that does not mean extreme politics is to blame. There are others that hear the rhetoric of extreme politics and they don't kill people. How do you explain that? I read a book once about the Son of Sam. In it they described how just seeing a woman walking down the street would send him into a killing spree. Are we supposed to stop all women from walking down the street? Look at this guys history. He was all kinds of threatening for all kinds of reasons.

Both sides have used irresponsible language in the past. I think it is deplorable. Not because it is sending people into a shooting spree, but because it is polarizing us as a nation.

I am surprised that video footage showing a Tea Party candidate for congress confronting a Democrat Congressman with a mob like atmosphere with anti-semetic rants yelled from the Tea Party supporters isn't actually the Tea Party.

Can you please enlighten me as to who Popadich really is, if not a Tea Party member? Who are these people really that you have seen at the rallies? Is Papadich an impersonator? Would the really Tea Party please stand up?

Several ~ The Very reason I went was because I suspected the were being deliberately misrepresented in the media. They are for the most part Vietnam Era Vets Older people Quite respect full and just stand around. The y don't even really talk to each other. Its like they don't know how to protest. Never any chanting. When passer byes would beep the horn they might wave. The young people there were from the media. There were a few people who set up tables to pedal Bush did 911 stuff etc. but they were shunned. The Tea Party people rarely bring signs. Its like there to Bashful to protest and most ( 80% ) are to old. I kid you not. Consevatives are not by nature pack animals. They just line up on the side walk and stand there in a line
