Medic Heals Vs. Revives !!!!!!

Well this has to be the first time posting in this section. But it only seems appropriate to post this here.

Now for the Meritorious Service Medal you need 1,000 heals. Now correct me if I am wront, which I dout. But isn't a revive more difficult and dangerous for a medic then a simple heal point. So why, for the 1,000 required heal points isn't the revive points calculated into this 1,000 heals.

I would think as a combat medic a revive and heal would be the same thing! I would think a combat medic should be awarded points toward this medal for heroic action in combat. Which means giving the guy some credit for throwing his body out there to be shot at, why he attempts to bring someone back from the grave.

Let me know what, you think! Maybe someone at EA/Dice will notice this and correct the issue.

I get more revives (642) than heals (433) but I see your point.

I think they should change the points so that you get 2 points for heals and only 1 for revives since they are, for most players, easier to come by.[/sidetrack]

I'm not sure but I think revives give you more teamwork points than heals already.Anyone who knows for sure correct me if i'm wrong.
I guess EA figured heals would be a little more reasonable.

Yup, revive = 2 points and heals = 1 point.

Heals are much harder to accomplish than revives, often for the simple reason that the target isn't moving around for revives. A heal...you need a wounded but not "critically" wounded guy, he has to stand and wait for you, you have to disperse medicine, you have to not get shot while doing this.

And also it's impossible to get a healing point of one damaged player. Either he needs to get hit again, or you need to find someone else. Plus it's also up to them whether or not they get healed.

Critically wounded guys however, leave it up to you to revive them. Sometimes they might not want to get revived, but they can't run away from your shock paddles.

revive is more easy IMHO.
Heals take more time, you have to stay close with a group of friendly soldiers etc.

Well...

i sorta figured out that people prefer to die and get revived.
but then Why do they spam MEDIC if they are running into an Suicide situation with 1 bar of health left?
do you think Medic will run after him the whole map for 1 Health point? no he will heal the ones that come towards him or the ones around him.

With a 100 Hours as engineer and 60+ as medic, I think heal points are harder to get. I've watched people calling for a medic run away from me when I throw a medic bag in their direction. Yellling First Aid, Get First Aid Here and the like. I've got more heals than revives, but that's from how I play medic vs other people.

heals are harder to statspad, thats why.....

Well my whole idea behind the post was. Yes heals are harder to stat pad, but alot of medics including myself just simply thow med packs and hope guys hit them for the heal points. Yes some of do simply look for guys who need them also. But to just throw down a med pack, and someone hits it, really isn't skill. Being a medic and running with a squad who is under fire, and trying to revive someone is suicide. For example when I see a guy reviving I shoot him first, becuase he is the biggest threat, he can heal and revive his sqaud, and he is an easy target. I just think a revive should give you a point towards the medal, or maybe even a half point (two revive's = 1 heal etc). In reality, its not worth sticking your head out just for two points to get whacked.

And yes, who ever said it, the repair points are going to be the hardest. The possibilities for repairing are limited. Unless your on a map with alot of armor, your limited to someone blowing up a bridge or your commanders assets. I have alot of time in engineer and always repair, and still I only have 456 of them. Its definately going to take some time to get the medal.

I get more repair points in a round on any map than I do heal points on the same map in the same server.

Repair points are somewhat easier to get, because of the fixed locations of the commander's assets. Potentional Heal points are constantly moving.

I have to agree about 2 revives = a heal point or something like that. They are just way to hard to come by.

Revive is easier cause you just left click and the killed guy is not moving.
A heal point is awarded only when he has about 1/3 of health. Healing sb with 75% hp doesn't work. I play mostly as a medic and i know that when i want to heal some n00b, he starts running away to the combat zone with 2 bars of health and die there instead of picking the heal bag up. BTW if i follow him i can get a revive point.
Reviving is much easier than healing!!!

Heals would be easier if the people spamming "I NEED A MEDIC" would just turn around for once...
But its the opposite with ammo, no matter how much you spam I need ammo the support guy right in front of you wont drop a single bag.

And if you throw a med pack at them they dodge it aiming at you thinking its c4...

yeah this is a tricky medal to get i got the heals on karkand.. i just throw them everywhere.. dont bother shooting people, just run about like a headless chicken throwing medic packs.
or another another tactic i used was get in an apc. go into the warzone tell people to get into the apc and u heal them. and sometimes get driver abality at the same time.

Hmm.. revives are so easy, when people on IGN checked my stats they said I was stat padding like crazy. ... nubs. lol

But yeah, I barely bother throwing out ammo packs, unless someone needs them, other than that I chunck them around corners where the person who runs by, has to get it, whether he means to or not.

It is a great way to get heal points, though I dont have that many.

Well I just started playing medic almost all the time now. For a few reasons, one its a change of pace, since I really never played medic that much. Two, I get some killer scores now. I am hitting minumum 100 points a game now. Average about 40 - 50 team points for the revive's and heals, and grasping about 25 kills per game. So yah for the points, the medic has to be the best kit. My only problem is there is really no credit for revive's, except for the 2 points. It would be nice if they had something just for revive's, or just added it to the medal.

No you're not. Check your own stats and try saying that again.

Revives don't need some sort of 'gratification', the 2 points are more than enough. IMHO its already MORE than enough, its so much easier than killing a person.

I meant I just started playing medic all the time in the last few days. I usually never play medic, as you can see by my stats. Now that I have started playing medic, I get killer points. I think my global score is pretty dam good for the hours I have. I see plenty of people with the same score and 500 hours. So I do think myt stats show big point games, and by the way the points I get are on full 64 person servers, not some 20/64 or server with modded tickets.

And yes revives should get gratification. BF2 was designed around sqaud based play. In fact thats why the new 1.3 patch is going to make it even more squad based. No more spawn on leader, etc. Being a medic and reviving your squad members is going to be the new thing. So the medic is going to become the #1 kit now. Like I said earlier I do understand the possibilities of stat padding if the revives counted. Thats why I said a revive should give you only a half of a point towards a heal.

Anyway, it was my opionion. I didn't want this thread to turn into a bitch session. I think with the 1.3 coming its going to change alot of things, and the way people play the game. I think it will be a change for the better. Because I am a squad and team player. So I have no problems being a medic for 5 other guys. When the patch comes out, medics should get more praise then they do now.....

I get more revives because the dumbasses don't stay alive long enough to let me heal them. By the time I get to them they're dead.
