Just shows to highlight the current consensus that the level of political debate has fallen so low that it consists of little more than insults and threats these days. The Jiggler wrote:

That elected politicians and members of a free press can be calling for each other to be killed and its passed off as 'freedom of speech' is incredible.

What? Yea cause no one was ever assassinated back in the Roman empire days... Who's called for assassinations? Where's your proof?Dilbert_X wrote:

If you'll read my post, I didn't say more laws was the solution (with the exception of gun control). The laws do exist, I agree, but they aren't enforced and that's a huge problem. As far as the war on drugs is concerned, it's lost and needs to be given up in terms of domestic fighting because that isn't going anywhere.lowing wrote:
Yes just like strict drug laws and the war on drugs. How is that working out again? You do not need more fuckin laws, you need to enforce the laws on the books, you need to do away with PC and make people hurt for the crimes they commit.CapnNismo wrote:
Better border control, stricter gun laws. Seems like a win-win to me. Cuts down on the illegal drug trade and also human trafficking, too.Turquoise wrote:
Well, the problem is that gun control isn't something that works in all cases. It might work in Germany, but in America, it depends on several factors as to how effective more restrictive laws might be.
Arizona could probably stand to implement a psychological background check to its process, but beyond that, they must contend with an illegal gun market run by nearby Mexican cartels and MS13 (more specifically).
Implementing more gun control in a state like Vermont, on the other hand, would probably be easy due to its remote location and small population.
In regards to your response about the German thing: You'll notice that gun crime in Europe is pretty low because there isn't this psychopathic gun-nut mindset like you have in the great ol' USA.

So, what are the odds that some liberal nut job will retaliate to the Judge and Congressman being shot by going on their own rampage?
It obviously really agitated the liberals and they took it as an attack from the Republicans/Tea Party. I don't think I would hang out at the next big Tea Party rally in Arizona.

I just dislike teenagers with political beliefs. All they are doing is repeating whatever their parents told them. Only problem is they don't have any foundational knowledge so trying to figure out what they are saying is like playing the telephone game.DBBrinson1 wrote:

Yeah I think calling him a conservative is rather unfair to conservatives. Likewise with that fucktard Brad.JohnG@lt wrote:

JahMan, not that I necessarily disagree with what you're saying, but what about Switzerland? I believe they have more guns per person than in the US yet I don't hear of them having the issues with gun crime that we have.
Well, the nice thing about Switzerland is that every adult male is formally trained to use a gun. With training, people tend to respect guns more and use them more responsibly.Hurricane2k9 wrote:

See, if I knew every person with a gun in the US was properly trained, I wouldn't have a problem with lots of people having them.Turquoise wrote:

But y'know why they're formally trained to use 'em? Conscription, a word worse than 'motherfucker' or 'n****r' or 'tax hike' in US politics.
The other issue I have with CCW is that while it may deter rationally-thinking criminals (which is one of the supposed benefits that its supporters talk about all the time), it probably wouldn't deter people with obvious mental instabilities like Loughner.

So you wouldn't have an issue with someone like me owning a weapon?Hurricane2k9 wrote:

i don't understand why people are making this a partisan-political thing... it's a shame
the guy is clearly fucking nuts. conspiracy theories don't really ally with left/right wing mainstream politics.

but that's the thing, both political parties have crowbars and are trying to fit the conspiracy theories into their partisan beliefs. like any time you use a crowbar, it's not efficient, it takes alot of force, and something's bound to get broken.Uzique wrote:

First thing he said is he was carrying a gun to and was therefore "more prepared", that to me just seems like he was wanting something like this to happen in order to be able to shoot someone. He then runs over to where people had already subdued the gunman and grabs one of them. He even says the guy wasn't struggling and was under control, why label this guy a hero? Seems just lucky that he didn't cause more problems.
edit: the guy even says he took the safety off and was prepared to shoot someone, what if whoever had subdued the guy was carrying the gun and wasn't involved in that struggle, that would have added another body to this. Throw more people with guns into a problem and I don't see how it ends up any way but more people getting killed.
