Your battery might be completely kaput. Because of that it is impossible to channel electricity through it to your laptop. It acts as a barrier.

it's been my experience that a battery on a laptop will seldom outlast the warranty. i tell our executives to take out the battery and put it into their bag.

the new Nvidia drivers for the NVS are 109 mb
Isn't that normal size? ATi's are around 70-90MB.
NVS are Quadro's, their drivers are certified.
edit; the 10-12 ATI are 43 mb.
