They might actually learn how to tackle instead of just head ramming people.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

You havent lived until you've played American football.
Also, Seahawks making playoffs at 7-9 o.O

I always find the american football vs. soccer/european football threads hilarious because it always resorts to "they play with pads, they're all pussies".
Meanwhile I'd love to see anybody here take a hit from someone like Julius Peppers, Bart Scott or Mario Williams.
Good luck.

Because everyone was arguing football players are harder than american football players...Poseidon wrote:

Doubt the NFL players have the endurance of a soccer player.Sturgeon wrote:

They run for a minute then have a 5 minute break ffs.
Maybe sports have more going for them than bulking up and running into other people really hard.Poseidon wrote:

So fundamentally untrue. You're denying the speed and athleticism of players like Devin Hester, DeSean Jackson, Mike Vick, Arian Foster, Percy Harvin and Jacoby Ford? I mean sure, I'm sure Ben Roethlisberger isn't as fast as certain soccer players or rugby players, but that's not what he is designed for.AussieReaper wrote:

Well, they're always being called pussies for wearing pads. So yes.Sturgeon wrote:

Then the "football players are pussies for wearing pads" argument shouldn't even come up, because Football is a LOT more than that.TimmmmaaaaH wrote:

No one called anyone a pussy. They obviously need pads because alot can be called a tackle in American football where as in Rugby there is no tackles above the shoulder or tackles in the air. Seriously though you are really comparing two different types of athletes your NFL boys only have to run hard and fast for about 30 seconds and then take a 10 hour break.Poseidon wrote:

i dont think anyone called them a pussy. but when someone uses a "greatest hits" video as proof of something it has to be mentioned.Poseidon wrote:

it's actually more like a 30 second break. besides, when they do run hard and fast, i'm sure it's comparable to soccer players. honestly, these guys are FAST for big guys. for example, julius peppers, ran a 4.68 40-yard dash at 290 pounds when entering the nfl draft.wah1188 wrote:

also, soccer has more action then football but the action in soccer isn't nearly as exciting in football.
football has less action then soccer but when there is action, it's much more exciting
basketball is in the middle.
Two examples why I personally like association football much more.
You simply can't do that with that egg-shaped melon used in american football or rugby.

how often are there such exciting, game-changing moments in soccer? almost none, except for when someone scores a goal. there's barely any situations in soccer where the game is really on the line.
every break in soccer is potentially game changing
