My buddy called me this morning and told me that they found his ex-wife had died from ODing

I felt bad so I went to hallmark looking for a sympthy card

Wow, Time for Beers then and soap up her memory so the Kids dont warp out about thier mom as they grow older. My boys don't get at all why thier real dad ditched them. I know it bothers them on lotsa levels. Really vexes me when people with kids fuch up their lives. We have such a short time here and so many people waste it. Do your best, let me know if i can help.

actually i think clinical psychologists put the timeline on bereavement of/mourning for a significant other somewhere nearer 5 years.

that's not to say you can't 'get sad' about people that have died before it. just then you have moved through all the phases of recovery.

you can, of course, always empathize with and feel emotions as part of memory and recollection.

Clinical psychologists are not always correct, however. But 5 years would be typical bereavement.
