What would cause a PC to just turn off? And by 'turn off' I mean have all programs close, one by one and then shut down, without my saying so. Basically, two times while playing Bad Company 2, my PC has just started to close everything open and then shut down my PC. It has so many game-crashing bugs. Sometimes it will tab out and then when you tab back, it just flashes black and white.

On the topic of USB Audio Interfaces/Sound Cards, the sound card in my PC just killed itself and I thought I'd replace it with an external one, and use it for both my PC and laptop (as I never play music from both at the same time anyway). Anyone have any recommendations? Budget is somewhat open as I don't know enough about price and performance for this kind of stuff, but I don't want to spend over £100 (ie. the EMU0404 is a bit pricey)
Will be used with HD595s and a pair of undecided speakers, perhaps the Rokit RP6's. Will be used for parties and of course private pleasure. Will not be used for recording.
Ideas?

the 0404 is like the budget, entry-level device, as far as im concerned

Oh, ok then. Budget is flexible, I just thought it would be less than £100. Used the EMU0404 as a reference, which I thought was relatively up-the-scale.
So would this EMU be enough, then? If I have to hop to a DACMagic (ie £200+), I think I'll have to reconsider the whole thing (e.g. step down on the speakers) as I'm not prepared to spend £550 on audio equipment at this time.

The EMU 0404 isn't bad, but it's not incredible. It has a decent DAC in it and a good interface. But it's still an entry level Audio Interface.
