On something related to the topic Found this article in today's local news:

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/victim-stabs- … 10596.html

A man knifed during a domestic home invasion fought back and stabbed two of the offenders, one critically.

Three men armed with knives allegedly stormed a home about 6.30pm yesterday at Georges Hall, in Sydney's south-west.

Police say they kicked and punched the 39-year-old to the floor before he allegedly disarmed one of them and fought back, wounding two of his attackers.

The trio fled the scene but were located a short time later after police were alerted that a 27-year-old man attended Bankstown Hospital with stab wounds.

He remains in a critical condition and under police guard.

A second man, also aged 27, was treated for minor injuries before being taken into police custody with a 33-year-old man present at the hospital.

The two men have been charged with aggravated break and enter, committing a serious indictable offence in company and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The pair are expected to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.

The 39-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment of a suspected fractured left arm and cuts to his right arm and left ear.

Police believe the alleged attack was a domestic-related incident.
This is a more.. justified.. example of retaliation in defence of one's home and person.
Seems fair, are the hospitals here required to notify Police? In some parts of the world Doctors refuse to do so.

you are not Dilbert.

to answer your question anyways - if invited into a house, no problem. if uninvited, you say it's criminal, why would you not depend on yourself to repel an intentional attack on your property? do you feel confident you could do so with the gifts your god gave you? if i'm coming in, i've got a knife in my teeth, a two by four in one hand and a gun in the other. i'm attacking your residence, and what will you do, plead with me? i spit in your eye.

i personally don't give a fuck why you forced entry into my house. as long as the reason is worth dying for, it's all good.
Sounds like you've watched a few too many Hollywood movies.

Yeah, since they came into the hospital presenting stab wounds. If anyone presents those type of wounds (stab, gun, etc) then the police would be notified... since it's likely to be associated with a crime I assume the victim had contacted police after the trio ran away (since he himself needed to go to hospital.. and to report the crime ), so they would have notified the hospitals to look out for someone with those wounds..

my front door is locked. i have secured my home for the night, making it safe for my family.

if someone were to force their way in, i instantly know their intentions.

if you don't get that, man from down under, than be grateful and give thanks that the world has not moved on and you can depend on law enforcement to solve your problems.

Settle down champ, I'm just saying that I don't feel the need because I nor anyone I know has ever experienced a home invasion.
I don't feel the need to arm myself with a gun on the remote chance that I may be a statistic, but I guess Australia is a far safer country by the impression I get.

why i posted "i sincerely hope you don't live to regret it."

the second amendment to our constitution grants us the right to have the same arms as the government had, back when the document was written.

alot of Americans hold those rights to be self evident, and it's evident the world is going to hell in a handbasket.

Australia has not seen yet what England has - that criminals are armed and the law abiding populace is not.

fare thee well.

There are armed criminals here, but they tend to be underworld figures fighting each other or hold up the 711/petrol station/businesses.

Part of the argument here is that with more access to firearms, more criminals have access too. We had tighter gun laws after Port Arthur back in '96 I believe it was as it was deemed unnecesary for people to own fully automatic firearms (who really needs a machine gun other than a soldier either in training or combat?).

Anyways, there's a fair bit here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Australia

Knives are used up to 3 times as often as firearms in robberies.[25]

Actually it was semi-auto firearms which were heavily restricted - they are still available eg for helicopter culling of camels.

A black Long Island man convicted of killing a white teenager was home for the holidays Thursday after Gov. Paterson commuted his sentence.

John White, 56, was released after serving just five months in an upstate prison for killing 17-year-old Daniel Cicciaro Jr.

Pardoning is a strange part of our system, but it's not all bad.
