I'm also curious how many people (critics of it) have read the book - at least, it would be interesting to see if it has any value for law enforcement/legal prosecution.... or if they're simply reacting to the title (kind of like Andres Serrano's Piss Chirst...)
I would hope that officers, detectives, parental educators, criminal profilers, and other investigators read it .. since it is a supposed how to book. It should be full of clues and signs.
Yea.
That's what I mean.
It could even be useful in something such as exposing any loopholes... actual loopholes, not semantic bullshit.

Yeah since the vast majority of sexual crimes agaisnt kids are done by relatives and the random pedo snatching a kid thing is very very rare.

wut.  That's disgusting.
Let me give you the short version of what the sheriff did. He asked the author of the book in colorado to send him an autographed copy to florida.  He did, and now he is being arrested for distributing child porn.. or some charge like that.
Obscenity charge.  I hope he rots in jail.

*shrugs*  I don't have kids, so I really don't know how I'd feel if I did, but as a single person without kids, honestly...

I'm not sure if I care either way.  You could say it's First Amendment protected speech in some ways, but the opposing argument is valid as well.

It's basically rights vs. security.  I often lean in favor of security, but I'm not sure where to lean on this one.

At least the title of the book says it all, don't like it don't buy it.

Lolita would never be published today and Lewis Carrol of Alice in the Wonderland  fame would be locked up for life these days.

lol...   but seriously...  even though both actions are illegal, an adult having sex with a 16 year old is different from an adult having sex with an 8 year old.   Both are considered pedophilia by the law, but clinically, the term pedophilia specifically references prepubescent minors.

Again, it's a gross topic, but it's a distinction worth mentioning....

Lolita is a story, its not a fucking pedophile guide. Plenty of books talk of murders, that dosen't make them murder guides.

Yea, and there are worse things that can happen to you besides a conviction. If pedoman is going to scurf the line why not scurf the line with him?
Well, government isn't supposed to "scurf the line" with anyone. Either it's illegal or it isn't. Harassing an individual with procedural annoyances is an abuse of mandate.
