I can have plenty of fun in a game, but it's a great bonus if I actually give a rat's ass about the characters involved.
The "storyline" is like 8 hours of a game that you can play for 5 times that, its not just that they are unlikeable or whatever its that they arent relevant to the game at all. All the "plot" serves is a way to put you in ridiculous situations like riding a nuclear missile or assaulting a giant mountain fortress with a door like Mt Rushmore fashioned after Panau's ruler or escaping a military base and having a nuclear submarine surface through the ice lake you are driving across.

Point is, as a sandbox game it is the best I have played. I should put this in perspective: my second favourite sandbox is GTA:SA and I didnt like GTA:IV at all because it discarded all the fun of SA.

GTA4 was a waste of $5, tbh.

That's all well and fine, but it still doesn't change the fact that nothing you do is really of any consequence, and that I don't actually care about what's going on in the game world.
