More Batman: Arkham City gameplay, story details.

- Hugo Strange is in charge of Arkham City
- Two-Face plans to execute Catwoman to gain respect of inmates
- The overdose of venom may not be what's wrong with the Joker

Gameplay details are:

- You are now able to counter two attacks at once
- More puzzles
- All gadgets included in the first game are available from the start
- Side missions now feature in the game
- Gangs roam Arkham City, these are recorded in Batman's criminal database
- You find people who work for [Riddler] to find [Riddler] challenges
- Batman has his smoke bomb

-Sharp took credit for getting the Joker situation under control

- Sharp used that incident to help win the election

- He then declares Blackgate and Arkham unfit

- Sharp buys off a portion of the slums of Gotham

- He walls off the area, calls it Arkham City

- Sharp contracts a mercenary group named Tyger into defending the walls

- Prisoners given one rule: “Don’t try to escape”

- Penalty is death

- Prisoners free to do anything besides that within

- People who look into Hugo Strange disappear

- A year has taken place

- Two-Face is admitted into Arkham City

- Two-Face realizes he needs to make a move to assert himself in the prison so that he won’t be eaten alive

- He captures Catwoman, thinking that a public execution would help out his situation

- Devs. want a highly detailed city

- Can use gadgets while fighting

- Example of this: Putting explosive gel on the back of an enemy

- A lot of the super villains have formed gangs, have control of different areas in the city

- Devs hoping to use more of the “forensics” angle from the first title, incorporate puzzles in them that will get more complex as you progress

- Most of the key gadgets unlocked late in the original are immediately available, but it seems it hasn’t been confirmed that all of them will

- Explosive gel, line launcher confirmed to be available by default

- Interrogations instead of Riddler maps now

- Press a button and Batman will taunt enemies

- Optional sidestories for some characters, including Zsasz

- New costume for Harley

- Broadcast analyzer: Mainly used so that Batman can listen to a message from the Joker

- There are several broadcasts Bats can listen to, including the GCPD dispatch and Gotham FM

- Orcacle is missing

- Because of this, Alfred is the one in Bruce’s ear

- Rocksteady not talking about multiplayer plans yet

Game Informer quote about Harley’s costume:

“Instead of a nurse outfit, Harley now wears red and black pants, and a matching midriff-baring top. Her face paint has been scaled back to a much more subtle degree, and she now has a Joker tatoo on one of her hips peeking out over her waistband.”

Fittingly, Batman: Arkham City likes a little mystery behind its release – Rocksteady confirmed  to UK magazine PSM3 the sequel will feature some sort of multiplayer capability, but didn’t reveal any specifics about what that might mean.

“Multiplayer is a certainty, but no details on this yet,” a PSM3 article previewing the game teased in its September issue.

Multiplayer in Arkham City could range from a versus mode to a whole co-op campaign, most likely with Catwoman clawing at your side, as there has been no sign of any boy wonders in the game.

In another mysterious move, twenty new (freakin’ awesome) screenshots from Arkham City have surfaced online, traced back to an anonymous Flickr account. While their authenticity is as yet unconfirmed, the pictures look too legit to be fanmade and Harley Quinn’s outfit matches her official reveal on the cover of OPM UK.

On one hand, I wish they wouldn't dick with Harley Quinn (Batman: TAS will be the only valid one for me). On the other, it seems more in line with the AA/TDK style of Joker.

I'm having Malkavian flashbacks from VTM: Bloodlines just by looking at her screenshot.

Batman: Arkham City is 5 times bigger than Asylum

Batman: Arkham City developer Rocksteady has revealed that the game - due for release next year - is "four or five times" bigger than its much-loved predecessor.

Speaking to OPM's roving reporters for CVG, Rocksteady boss Sefton Hill also revealed that the caped crusader has double the number of goon-smacking moves at his disposal than he did in Arkham Asylum.

"Without a doubt, the hardest part of moving the game setting from the confines of the asylum into the urban sprawl of Arkham City was simply building the environment," he said.

"Our objective in this game is not to make the biggest game we can, but to make the best game possible. Gamers who played Batman: Arkham Asylum will know how dedicated we are as a studio to injecting an incredible amount of detail into every environment we build. "It is this attention to detail that gives our games the deep and intense atmosphere that so many players have found so compelling, and so we have had to seriously scale up our art team in order to bring the same level of detail to Arkham City, which is about 4-5 times bigger than Arkham Asylum."

"In terms of gameplay, we knew very early on that just scaling up Batman's abilities and gadgets wasn't going to work as he is fundamentally facing a new game world and totally different range of enemies in this game, so we took his move set from Batman: Arkham Asylum and built from there," added Hill.

"Looking at the raw amount of animations in this sequel, Batman's moves have doubled in number and we also wanted to create an authentic sense of continuity from the end of Batman: Arkham Asylum, so the player will begin Batman: Arkham City with many of the same core gadgets that they unlocked in the first game.

"Batman's cutting-edge technology is a significant part of the game, so gamers can expect to see a range of totally new gadgets, as well as evolved new features built into those tools that they already enjoyed in Batman: Arkham Asylum."

Batman: Arkham City is 'complete'

Oh, mama. Batman: Arkham City is reportedly playable from start to finish - and Rocksteady has completed fundamental development on all key stages of the game.

The studio must have ploughed some serious time into doing so, too - considering the title is five times bigger than award-winning predecessor Arkham Asylum. SystemLink reports that the studio is "polishing and adding new features".

It learnt from the OPM podcast: 'The blowout starts from 01:00 onwards, and opens with the revelation that Batman: Arkham City is actually finished. Rocksteady can play from start to finish, meaning that the next year until release is just polishing, and adding new features.'

It also mentions lots of rainwater (Harley Quinn all wet...) and side missions. More through the link below.

Batman: Arkham City is due for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next year.

Asylum is good and if you liked the Batman series it pretty much is a must. you can most likely find it for a cheap price on some store. Arkham City picks up where Arkham Asylum ended. So you might not understand most of the story at the beginning.

Yes, but it was still has the annoying habit of coming up with different words every time you make a sequel. Not as annoying as when they shift gears from numbered to worded or vice-versa, but still irritating. From here on out, I'm just going to call them Arkham '#,' until they drop the word entirely.

It's annoying to you, but calling it Arkham Asylum 2 would be misleading. It needed to have a different name, but the new name still needed to show that it is a sequel to Arkham Asylum.

It wouldn't be that bad if this was the last game, but this shit has an ugly habit of dissolving into an unrecognizable mush pile of non-sequential titles. The only way to make sense of it from a sorting perspective is if the third game is progressively titled something like 'Arkham Nation.' [e: then not only does it make sense in size, but alphabetically.]

But until then, I have 'Arkham 1' on Steam and am considering ordering 'Arkham 2.'
