Thats my first thread, i took all advice apart from 2 bits so far. It seems i misused the term lag, i aint having performance lag but Internet based, my Broadband over the past few months has been having really piss poor packet reception and sending, thats the problem i need help fixing, i' ve tryed nearly everything but it wont fix

Btw how do i set up a Dual Boot ? as that sounded like a good idea, to format a new windows drive to run BF2 off?

Have you ever try to "trace" your ping between you and the servers you are playing on?

Depending on the number of Hop and the ping value of each Hop you ma be able to find out if one of the server/router you are going through is responsable.

Sometimes a router between you and the gaming server can be overloaded.  I have seen friends having a PING going from 30 to 400 and back to 30 for a few second enough to creates lags. It happenned at the same time of the day.

Call the Broadband company to do a check of your connection at your house.  A buddy did this and found a subpar connection at his house. I dont know what they fixed but no more connection problems for him.

To set up a dual boot, you'll need to first partition your hard drive using a program like Partition Magic. Then during Windows install, simply choose to install on the new partition you created. When it's finished and you reboot, it should automaticly prompt you which operationg system you'd like to boot from. To edit these choices (in case they're both XP or whatever), right click on My Computer-->properties-->Advanced Tab-->Startup and Recovery click "edit" and make it say whatever you want. ie:"Press Enter Retart".

I've also had to have them crank up the signal at my house before. Cable modems are shared by eveyone on your block so they may have to adjust it if your connection sucks.

It could be but, but of the time it's related to lentency (ping). Do a trace (tracert) with the IP server with which you have lag and if all the pings for all the hop are normal, then I would say it's your computer since everyone else seem to be ok in your house.

Did you try to use an optimizer? I use PC Pitstop Optimizer, it will optimize you packet size and your registry.
