Haters gonna hate.

That is cheap.  Maybe if you werent a failure at life and had a job or something you would see something at 100$ as cheap. Again, I already have one, this is the identical drive I pad 300 for 18 months ago.  I want to raid them, I bought it.  Deal with it.  Its not going into your computer.

Also, the drive i bought isnt in your benchmark list.
https://benchmarkreviews.com/images/reviews/storage/WD3000HLFS/ATTO_WD-VelociRaptor-300GB-WD3000HLFS.png
"Our basic I/O bandwidth tests begin with the Western Digital VelociRaptor connected to the integrated Intel ICH10R Southbridge chip, as the ATTO Disk Benchmark tools performs file transfers ranging from 0.5 KB to 8192 KB. The 300GB WD3000HLFS model reveals a 130 MBps read plateau from 32-8192 KB file chunks, while the 130 MBps write performance plateaus from 32-8192 KB. Compared to other hard drives, the WD VelociRaptor is unparalleled. However, when compared to SSD products that directly compete for the high-performance desktop sector, the VelociRaptor falls near the bottom of Solid State Drive performance. "

Im just saying I understand what your saying, its falling on deaf ears.  But for the current circumstances (ie what equipment i already have and the given price of teh new drive) this seemed like my best bet for a decent performance and storage gain.

Yea i dont see the WD3000HLFS on that list.  Really I dont care though.  It makes sense to me to purchase this drive instead of spending more on an SSD + Storage. Especially due to the price.

A SSD is more than twice as fast as one of those Raptors.

I know that, but I already have one of these drives.  Im running out of storage space... So, by buying this drive im going to get the extra space I need plus a performance increase by striping the drives.

Maybe someday I will get an SSD.  But not untill I can afford to buy two of them with a decent capacity.

I've got an SSD as my OS drive, but find me a $99 300GB SSD.  This VR fills a middle ground, like back in the day, first on to get that vehicle on BF2.

When will people realize you only need to have your OS and installed programs on your SSD..

All your 1TB of movies, music, videos & other files, go on a HDD since it make no difference in speed for them...

I'm sure you have a top of the line system, water-cooled, etc etc.  And when new technology comes out you gut your system and change everything around to fit that one new part, right?

Don't be so stupid dude.

Yea loll, you only come on here and make a whole thread about how you're a fucking failure and have no ambition. Every fucking month i read about how you're still living at home or you dropped out of school.

Then you have the audacity to make assumptions about my knowledge of basic system configuration?? Go fuck yourself.  I'm just saying know you re fucking role you fucking douchbag and check yourself.  If you can't understand why purchasing this drive at less than 100 dollars is a better alternative to buying an SDD plus a storage drive then I can understand why you're such a disappointment to everyone in your life.

This is the last post Ill humor your pathetic trolling with.

Try fitting that in $100 worth of SSD. And it's not like I have everything installed there. It's basically just Office + Photoshop + steam + BF2 + couple mods.

Sure, not everything would have to be on the SSD, but who wants to cut up the SSD into many partitions and mount them as NTFS folders, a la this:

C:\ on SSD partition 1
C:\Users on HDD part 1
C:\Users\username\AppData on SSD part 2
C:\Program Files on HDD part 2
C:\Program Files\some app on SSD part 3
C:\Program Files\some other app on SSD part 4
...

Or even worse, install Programs to different paths depending on the speed they need; which you can't do with steam. Urghh, what a pain to set up.

Throw a couple disks in a RAID 0 and you get loads of decently fast, cheap storage.

Fixed that.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I've got that 1TB drive partitioned into 250GB and 680GB, 250 for OS + games, rest for storage. I read somewhere it improves performance or something. Haven't really noticed. This is fast enough for my uses.. I barely have time to be on my computer anymore anyway.
