Nah. I was raping on that map last night. Just stay off that main street, pack a SMG and you're good to go.Uzique wrote:
fuck i hate that map, literally one of the worst cod maps i've played. it's so random!
i haven't bothered to play it much but i really can't imagine any of the maps being 'good' for S&D, in the sense that the classics were
fuck i miss harbor, neuville, carentan, tunisia... and all the rest! even the shitty maps of cod2 are stellar compared to mw2/black ops

What was the remake called? I think it started with an R.
Dawnville as well.

me and my old pro team used to rinse dawnville, and depot. the BAR and Mp44 really felt like surgical tools on half-open maps like that. absolutely amazing guns to use... you could practice with them for 500+hrs and become an absolute force to be reckoned with, with one kit alone. no need for those 50+ guns and accessories bullshit. 4/5 kits, with all the depth, complexity and balance that you could ever need.
the bigger maps like pavlov and hurtgen were fucking incredible, too. and ofc brecourt, but it was overplayed. those maps were just absolute rifle-only dreams. i used to spend infinite hours playing rifle-only TDM to music on those big maps... just get into a groove and become god-mode.
by the way it was called Rostov in cod2
oh and railyard was another absolutely incredible s&d map. you can tell which maps in cod were good for competitive scenes because they 'feel' like a counter-strike map when you're walking through them; carefully channeled routes, chokepoints, strategic points of importance etc. in the new games the maps just feel like a level designer had a fit and dropped a load of shit on a square plot. there's no shape or feel to the 'course' of maps. the old classics were almost like playing de_dust2 or something... hypnotically repetitive, and amazingly balanced.

I have a fetish for Vietnam war games :3 -- Love the music/Gameplay.
I still enjoy a good Battlefield Vietnam Bash
everything i write is a ramble and should not be taken seriously.... seriously. ♥
Ah yes, being a door gunner in BFV was even more effective than in BF2 after they nerfed the Blackhawk so bad.
heli gunner in blops rapes so hard
most of my games just go: UAV scan -> mortar a few -> heli gunner -> win round

so Uzique, El Alamein is a bad map in CoD2 then?
it's not great. wouldn't call it a classic cod map tbh.
mind you the night-time shit annoyed the hell out of me back when i played properly. i had a CRT monitor and it didn't do the dark-shadows too well.

Seriously, too many bullets to kill someone is justification in BC2, NOT CoD.
