I decided to OC my 6800Gs the other day, because bf2 was running rather laggy at times and I thought I'd see if it made any difference.

I found that you can set the AA on the card, rather than let it be application determined. now BF2 only lets me go up to 4xAA but my card allows 8xAA.

I turned AA off in Bf2 and changed the card to 8xAA, since then I've not lagged once, its been far better than it used to be.

I run at 1024x786 Reso, cause I'm suck with a crappy 15inch LCD, is there anyway to force a higher resolution?

Side note: OC'd my Core clock from 450mhz to 540mhz - Artifacts only appeared about an hour into gameplay.

OC'd my Memory clock from 1ghz to 1.2ghz - Any higher and it would lock up but could run the game on High settings.

Depends on the max resolution of your LCD monitor itself. Any higher resololition than 1280x960 and you'll probably be unable to read anything.

450MHz-540MHz is a bit extreme. I hope you have water cooling. I'd probably only keep it at 500MHz, but then I've blown old video cards in the past with air cooling and overclocking like yours.

Yeah, that seems a bit high to me as well.  My EVGA 6800GS came OCed from the factory at 490/1100.

I would listen to unnamednewbie's advice about lowering the core clock.  technically you may be able to force a higher resolution on the monitor, but it will not display correctly and will most likely (overtime) damage the monitor.

Setting a resolution higher, or even lower, than the native resolution of an LCD results in degraded image quality...some times severe.

lol my 7800GS only go's to 490 OCd And the memory clock is at 1.5Ghz
haha! nice overclocking but it might melt if you dont put it down a bit. Fire Extinguishers on standby are good too.

I might try that AA bit but cause i beleive it would be easier to see and track targets in the distance with a high AA and low resolution.
