so i'm doing this back-up thing to try and circumvent the fact i can't install new drivers on the new windows A-drive install

it says it's going to take 8 hours... to transfer 200Gb of music, files and windows install information

what the fuck is it transferring it with... morse code?

Try changing the drive letter of your 1TB to E:. A and B generally refer to floppy drives.

also, lol, since installing my (pirated) windows 7 on the first drive... my other hard-drive's window boot has lost its crack

'this copy of windows is not genuine'

how the hell did my C drive's copy get affected by a fresh install on the new drive? methinks something has gone wrong here

perhaps i should have completely unplugged the old hard-drive as i was installing to the new one

your old installation was probably cracked with a bootloader

yeah... so i just have to reapply the crack, right? i just burnt the same ISO to a new DVD-RW and then installed from within my C-Drive

i did that because when booting straight from DVD drive it said there was no boot-manager...

so i assumed starting the windows installation from within C, and telling it to install a clean copy on A, would restart the machine with the DVD-driver loaded... which seemed to work, because the installation went through fine. but now it seems as though they're somehow entwined complicatedly together... because when on the 'new' windows install, it tells me that installing any drivers/software to the A-drive is an 'invalid folder'. it'll only let me install it to the C drive. how fucking odd.

why the fuck would anyone pay £100 for windows7?

i just spent a grand on a PC and peripherals/hardware... i deem that an unnecessarily amount of money

then just hand over 10% of that budget for a shitty OS, that isn't even that good... a necessary evil?

lol. fuck that. i suppose you paid $3k dollars for your adobe suite and shit as well?

paying for an OS is a joke. OSX cost like 20 bucks. windows costs 200. no ty

"necessary evil"

i prefer using OSX for work and everyday browsing tasks... but i need windows for other things. mostly, gaming.

when spending £750 on a 'gaming PC', putting £100 of that budget towards an OS is fucking dumb

sorry, it's just a simple fact. £100 buys a lot more performance where it actually matters.

Exactly, if you need it, its worth it. Not saying you have to buy it, but you need it as part of the system you want. I've got no problem buying it the odd time, Microsoft may be teh evil! or whatever, but they make the product you need, that others don't, so it doesn't hurt to support them once in awhile.

Technically, if you want to, you can get almost anything for free. I'm willing to bet you still pay for almost everything in your life.

Your argument sucks.
I can easily pirate a copy of Windows 7 with no consequence, but I sure as hell can't go steal a Lambo and get away with it now can I?

i didn't mean to invoke all that "micro$oft are an evul corporation!!11" crap by using the phrase 'necessary evil'

i don't think the OS is worth the money, so as the customer who esteems value in the product, i don't pay their asking price

it's 'necessary' insofar as much as, yes, a computer (especially a gaming one) needs an operating system

if the price was more reasonable for me, as a consumer in a certain demographic (i.e. student), then i'd happily purchase

Not really, your argument is just what people use to convince themselves pirating shit is not stealing, Its not like I care if it is or not, but it is what it is. Also, how much enjoyment do you get from gaming on your windows platform, given that you need this to game, supporting the company that makes that possible is worthwhile, even if they are ridiculously huge.

Edit: just playin with ya on that cheap lazy thing btw.

not particularly, no. there are 'student discounts', as there are for most things... but i still don't consider the product worth it.
