Right well, Hi ^^ My PC Meets all EAs "average" Requirement except for the processor which is a 1.6Ghz but thats a LOONG story, anyway lately i've been getting pings of 60-500 on every server i go on and i cant figure out why, I recently switched to a Broadband cable to try and help it but its just as bad as when i had my wireless in, i've scanned and scanned for viruses and crap and deleted it ALL, i dump memeory before loading BF2, shut down AV and such and all that.

My broadband has been getting strange numbers of packets tho compared to other pcs in the house, it takes 6 hrs to get up to its medium strength , my settings are all optimal for my system and before this weird lag season i played fine even with my poor arse processor, i need help on how to increase my braodsbands packet reception/ sending or any other methods of removing this crappy lag, please!

I thought there was some kind of lag reduction topic. It helped me with my 1.7 Ghz processor.
Don't know the link anymore.

I dont think its the processor mainly, it runs fine when i have pings of 20 but the packets on my broadband suck but everyone else in the house is fine

Wireless is definatly the worst. However, i get really good pings but i often get `Theres a problem with your connection` and it happens 2 often for my liking

Happens at the most inconvienient times and i end up getting plasterd with bullets.

any ideas?

cheers.

I used a few of the most easy tips, and it seems to work good for me. I hardly have any lag these days.

Good luck with your problem, I've also felt the pain of lag before I stumbled into this holy thread.

well, I was too slow to get the link to the top ten!!! I tried to help!!!
Another tip that works is make sure you defrag and disk cleanup before each session!!! It makes a huge differance for the lower end computers. Don't use regular defrag... use diskeeper or something like it.

If you have enough hard drive space, you may want to set up dual boot. You probably have a ton of stuff installed and dont want to get rid of it. Install a second copy of windows and only put drivers+bf2 on it. Also, you do know that hard drives have a varying transfer rate as the drive fills up right? If you have a 40gb hard drive and you installed bf2 after having 35gb of junk in there, bf2 will have poor transfer rates. Hard drives are like records and they write from the center outward. They have max transfer rates at the center which is where windows is and the first couple things you install. If you doa fresh reformat, windows install and bf2 install in that order you will have the best hard drive performance possible from your system. Also mamory is a huge factor. Bf2 likes something like 1.3gb and anything less than that will force it to use hard drive space to make up the difference. If you have a slow hard drive and slow transfer then it makes it even worse.
