I get that every once in a while, but only when the mouse is over Firefox. No idea why, it hasn't bothered me enough to worry about fixing, but you're not the only one.
Thankfully im not the only one.

Regarding pointr trails,I'm 10000000000000% certain it's not that.

Putting together a build for my brother, parents decided they would buy him one for christmas since he's still struggling on his old 1.8Ghz dual core/2GB RAM/x1300.

He's doing his Architecture masters at the moment and therefore will be using a shit load of CAD programs, also video/music editing and some light gaming. Any suggestions on my build for him so far? trying to keep it around $1500 AUD (at the moment this build costs $1408).

-Antec 300 Case
-ASUS P6X58D-E Motherboard
-Corsair VX-550 PSU
-G.Skill 6GB 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM
-i7 950 CPU
-Windows 7 HP 64 bit
-Samsung 1TB F3 HDD
-Samsung SATA DVD/RW
-Sapphire HD6850

Haven't included a aftermarket CPU cooler because he's not all that tech savvy, doesn't like overclocking and I don't really feel like driving 3 hours to troubleshoot his computer if something plays up with the overclock etc. My only thought at the moment is upping the PSU to a TX-650, but its probably not really necessary.

sooo any suggestions?

How much are you paying for the 950 compared to the 930? And can someone check out the wattage required for that? Will 550 be enough?

The store I buy from doesn't even stock the 930 anymore. The 950 is $340, my 930 was $360 only one month ago

As for power, I think I'll go for the TX-650 anyway, its only $20 more.

Right so the store I ordered my netbook from decided it was going to take them 5 weeks to actually have them in stock so I cancelled

While I've got the chance to ask, does anyone have any recommendations for a portable, 12-15" laptop under 600 euros that's actually any good?

Yeah that budget + that size = budget laptop

Which are not known for their quality

I don't need high benchmark scores, more interested in battery life/build quality/screen quality

Oh my...  GTX 580 + AC Xtreme Plus with 480 mountings (should be compatible).

Reason would say no but still... temptations.

Considering the rest of the list, that 6850 is out of place. The 6 series is less powerful than the 5 series, so look for a 5850/70 if you want something on par with the rest of the build. And, as said, 550W seems a bit low.

550w is more than enough. HD 6870 is about same as HD 5850 in terms of performance.

Does he really need more than a 6850 when the most intensive game he plays is CSS? Would going from a 6850 to 6870 make much difference in CAD programs?

I can probably stretch the budget to a 6870 I guess.

Just submitted an RMA for the hard-drive that died on me.. several weeks ago. Probably should have done it sooner.

Was just flicking through some old bank statements and saw a payment to Overclockers in May.. I thought I had the drives for longer than a year so never bothered to look up the warrenty.

Gonna buy a 1TB F1 tomorrow though, cba waiting to see if/when the RMA gets accepted and shit.

Just keep looking for a place that has netbooks for the right price and that are in stock. Otherwise you'll have to go with a budget laptop and that's not a good idea.
