Bare this all with the fact that i am not a technically proficient person when it comes to computers. So here is my situation/question:
I have a smaller case that i bought as an already built computer. Its a good computer (p4 3.4, 2gig ram, x800xt, 2 WD 10k raptors, x-xi xtreme music sound card) But my problem is that the MB/case are smaller and are OEM to the computer. This is ok, but incredibly cramped within the tower, which makes it difficult for cooling, and leaves me with only 3pci, 1pci-e and one pci x1 slot. I currently have put a HD cooler fan in, and an expansion slot fan in (which is fairly jimmy-rigged to sit over the PCI card (graphics/sound) in a T manner, where the fan makes the top of the T, and the PCI cards are perpindicular under it. (i did this because being the way the MB is, there is just not enough room for the card to fit as it was intended/designed).
I was wondering of the difficulties of getting a newer (larger and more easily cooled) case, and a new MB (to allow for more expansion, and more room for cooling)
I am pretty sure my current MB is not ATX form factor (i have tried valiantly to get a model number on the MB, but its worse than trying to get expert knife)
the link for the system can be found here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … 8-RA930GN2
So input plz, i am just wondering if it would be very feasible and budgetarily reasonable to take the guts from my old comp and put them on a new MB/case, and what kind of problems i could encounter. (or even a how-to on what i could expect to have to do.)
