Any more than a couple seconds could potentially fry the CPU (without a heatsink completely).
As Camm noted, BIOS should handle that.  But in any case, test won't prove much anyways.

As for rubbing alcohol, well, it should be readily available just about everywhere.  Same day.  Delivery of paste remover?
well the trouble ive had with 2 computers in the last 6 weeks is that they don't power on, at all

a BIOS crash or NO-CPU failure would be a fucking divine hand-me-down from god's own vagina at this point

mounting the mobo in the case was a fucking dick-hard thing for me, too. took literally an hour.

thing wouldn't fit properly over the provided mounts... maybe 0.5mm to the right or so

took some 'gentle' persuasion, i'll tell you that much. not looking forward to any of the reassembly, to be honest

one of the 4 coiled-screws popped out of the mobo when i was dicking around with the heatsink fan, again, which kept falling off

the fucking nero-s 'mounts' its fan by 4 rubber sticks that are supposed to 'suspend' the fan... but it works very poorly

hence whilst pushing and poking around within the confined case, the mounting pin shot out

Well, there you go.  HS on MB before placing on case.

in a rare moment of financial timidity i thought i'd save myself the money, as the whole PC in the first place was kinda unwarranted/unnecessary

now i've had to replace a PSU, buy 2x i5 processors, try for a refund on a sonofabitch, and buy cleaning fluid for £15 incl. delivery

tempted to run into town and go back to that useless fucking repair shop, just to get the monkeys to put it together for me

as i said... it was. AFTER mounting it in the shitty case one of the screws popped out, when i was trying to put the fan back on (which fell off)

the nero-s really is the worst heatsink i have ever seen. i have no idea why they included it in the bundle.

my tuniq tower from 2007 seems more impressive

"Akasa includes a multi-socket backplate and an accompanying mounting bracket for LGA1366, LGA1156 and LGA775 sockets; the cooler is secured via four sprung screws fitted from the topside of the motherboard. Although the arrangement of mount holes means that when it’s correctly mounted on both LGA1366 and LGA1156, the backplate is actually slightly off centre, the use of sticky pads makes it easy to hold in place while you install. You’ll need a steady hand with the sprung screws however, as they require pressure on them in order to initially reach the backplate’s screw thread – one slip and you could gouge your motherboard"

yeah that basically sums it up VERY well, haha

i'm not the most practical or hands-on of people, either... i like to think i've got common sense, but this took SOME persuasion

i would buy another heatsink but really i just dont want the expense right now

guess i'm adding a HX650w and a noctua to my xmas list, hey

Based on the reviews, it's a solid HS.  Just get someone to help you mounting it.  Spring mounts are PIA.

alright, after opening up the mobo again...

there was quite a lot of thermal compound on the chip. nearly coming off the sides towards the pins

popped into boots and got some cotton buds and 99% non-acetate isopropyl alcohol nail varnish remover

gonna be more... reserved this time.

FUCKING WISH ME LUCK WITH THE HEATSINK, YEH?

HA! That guy did it wrong. You don't apply thermal paste on CPU with such cooler base. You put the thermal paste on the heatpipes, not the CPU.
