Man, training Triceps without Dips sucks so hard, I just can't push myself it seems..

Gonna avoid dips for a few weeks, shoulder's hurting a bit and I don't want to injure anything..

Skullcrushers, Extensions and Close Grip Bench press are fucking AWESOME.

I love my Tris workout, it's brilliant.

Be patient with them, they take time to develop, and once they do, you will love those exercises.

Skull crushers are prob one of my favs too.  I like to do them incline, in the seated position, as well as flat.  Mix it up.  You can do a reverse extension as well with the cable rope at teh low position on the cable machine and extend up from behind the head.

Yeah, I do skullcrushers. I'm not sure if mine is called the french press variant or not, I lower the weight past my head.
I really should give Triceps Extensions a try again (which ones do you guys do?). I did them a while back, didn't really like them and just forgot about them I guess. Will give CG BP a try aswell.

The burn is just insane with skullcrushers as the last tricep exercise of a workout. I crave it.

I do these tricep extensions. Love 'em.

Aight, I'll give it a go and change the order around. I usually did skullcrushers near the beginning but I'll change it around.

By the way, posted a few pages back but I don't think I really got a reply, I'm currently doing 3x12 on pretty much all exercises (except squats, DL's : 5x5) and I've seen some nice gains, but not so much strength obviously. Almost been on this routine for 2 months so it's getting time to change things around. Should I just switch some exercises, change the order around and perhaps change to another rep range, like 3x8 or 4x6-8?

You should now switch back to strength for 6 weeks. I recommend the 5x5, because it's the most solid routine.

Then switch again to hypertrophy. I'm about to go back onto hypertrophy after 6 weeks of 5x5s. This is my rest week.

All right, thanks for that suggestion.

What do you recommend as a 5x5 routine? I've found a few on the web, but most of them base around 3 compound lifts (at 5x5, without warmups I'm guessing) and then call it a day, but that would just leave me warmed, I think..

Just do 5x5s with the same routine switching it about. The trick is to add on about 5-8% of the current weight at the end of the week and keep increasing. Make sure you're lifting at about 90% of your yield.

going to go on the warrior diet starting today. anybody have experience with it? it's basically eat nothing (or very little) during the day and then 3-4 hours before sleep you feast.  Read up on that shit, it seems really beneficial mentally and physically.

that sounds terrible and stupid.  yeah, let's eat all our proteins, carbs, and vitamins at the time when we don't need them; when we sleep

seriously, most retarded, ridiculous idea i've ever heard of

I've heard from many sources it's quite effective, really. Can only know for sure when you try it out though. Apparently processing foods takes a lot of energy, which you now conserve. That said, it wouldn't be for me, I just love eating

Skullcrushers are amazing, right now I'm doing skullcrushers, rope pushdowns, and close grip bench for my tricepts, was thinking of swapping closegrips with dips though.

Anyway, since I was having trouble with energy at the gym, I went out and picked up a pre-workout suppliment called Superpump250 (stupid name, I know, makes me think of powerthirst), but man it is great for that extra boost on your first and last reps. Was able to add weight to almost every exercise, and was more stable on the rest.

Actually, most nutritionists say the best time to take vitamins is before bed, as that is when you go the longest time without any sustenance (~8 hours). Your body continues to process everything while you sleep.

Don't know so much about eating heavily before sleeping. Everything I've read says studies show it disrupts sleep.

fucking hell, dislocated my shoulder doing a 25lb dumbell lateral raise, maybe calling the doctor to make an appointment to see a shoulder specialist before going to the gym was a bad luck move.

Taken a few attempts over the past month (going on tour with my band and drinking every night, sleeping fuck all and eating shit didn't help) but this week I've exercised every day, bought some dumbbells and will be picking up a flat weights bench in a couple hours. Cut out any fried foods, low alcohol intake (had 3 glasses of red wine Friday, 4 stubbies of low carb beer last night) and have been drinking heaps of water. Feeling pretty good about myself right now...
