this is a pretty shitty cheer up thread. though 1600 in 2 months is pretty impressive. ive been going out 2-3 times a week every week since school started and im at maybe $4-500 spent.
well, keep in mind about $700 of that went to textbooks... so it's really around $900 (which was my work money + loan money)Winston_Churchill wrote:

YOU AM MACRO PROFESSOR.

lol, you only had $1600 to last you for the entire semester? And you went out for food? cool planning bro.
I'm through quite a bit more than $1600 so far, but then again my loan is a lot bigger as well so it's k.
Financial protip: keep a credit card around at all times to avoid the embarrassment of not being able to pay for a dinner

I might not have had extreme financial skill when I first came here, but I know damn well not to take out a credit card without a job. Once I get one here (or in Albany), I'll open one up.Jenspm wrote:

Financial protip: don't be ghetto, use a computer or phone to check your balance before you go out so you can pay for it LoLJenspm wrote:

you're 14..
Which makes you look even dumber.
If the women don't find ya handsome. They should at least find ya handy.
Err, I spent that much on textbooks too. I dont think you can really make broad sweeping criticisms of peoples ability to buy textbooks without going to that school or taking that program. Some of my courses have a different textbook every couple years so it forces people to buy the new ones with the different material... and as a freshman you pretty much have to buy all the textbooks since you dont have any from previous years (my chem book lasts me 3 years). Insulting him for spending money on textbooks is just dumb, its a far better investment than going out.
Not an option here.
Or buying them used, online for a fraction of the cost. I payed 20 bucks for a book that would have cost me 90.

HaiBai is 14 and UnkleRukus is an internet troll. They clearly know more. For shame.Winston_Churchill wrote:

No, I've actually been in college longer than a few months.Poseidon wrote:

And I'm not buying paper every month so I can print out the pages from books I need to bring to class. It's a ridiculous notion. You want to buy e-books/rent, go right ahead. I highlight in my Spanish/Macro textbooks constantly and I'd rather be able to bring the book to class if need be.Jenspm wrote:

i don't have a credit card... what's the point when you can just afford shit?
run out of money? savings/family.
easier to pay back... no interest... no fucking credit companies chasing you... no shitty credit ratings
there's really just no need to have a credit card before you work full-time
