Cable management isn't strictly about looks. It improves airflow which helps lower your component temperatures. You don't have to go crazy with zip ties, just make an effort to tuck stuff away/behind the motherboard tray.

You bought it... you could have looked up what 'modular' means. Don't bitch and whine at us when you asked us for help.

What exactly did you buy if it costed £60 more than one without modular cables.

the corsair 650w modular is 60 more than the 600 non-modular and 45 more than the 650 non-modular

You are comparing some uber shit non-modular to the corsair hx650w, or you are doing something very wrong. Even at ocuk, the TX650W (note also has older interior shitz than the new HX series) is barely £20 less.

So how did you manage to waste £60?

And where did I say that? HX650W is less than £100 at ocuk, you are not getting quality >600w PSU at less than £40.

corsair cx = http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … ubcat=1084

equals £60

corsair hx = 100

plus 20 delivery

ding ding ding

i might just cancel my order by phone and get the cx600w, i really don't want to spend any more money on this computer bullshit

ding ding ding what what about delivery of the cx? do the maths and you find its not 60. You get a lot lower quality PSU, not sure how long warranty that has either. HX series over here have 7 years warranty.

But since you already give a fuck as long as you buy something I couldn't care less what you get in the end, but remember my warnings.

cx has 2 years warranty

hx has 7 years warranty

i'll consider swapping out a new PSU in like 6 months or something... right now PSU's have cost me about £300 in stupid service costs and messing around, and i just want something that will fucking work. i don't care if it's not 100% efficient, or if the warranty isn't fantastic on it... perhaps in the future when i'm feeling a little more frivolous with my tech-spending, i'll pick up a HX650w and stick with it. right now i just want a computer that works... so far my costs on this little 'project' are near £1000, including fees and all sorts of bollocks. obviously the computer isn't worth that much, so anything more i spend is just bloody painful to part with.

so i'll upgrade my PSU laaaaaters. i'm taking the cx still has basic safe-guards so that when it fails, it won't take the entire fucking computer with it? because my last PSU was a TX850w and when that died, so did the Asus mobo... won't be happy if that happens again.

If you buy a modern, decent, PSU then its not going to fail for a long time. Long enough not to worry about it fucking up everything else.
I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.

Anything by a name brand should last, and if not, they should have warranties.

My old Zalman lasted me a good 4 years, and I think that has a lifetime warranty. My current TX650 is doing a good job and I fully expect it to last.

You should be fine with anything by Corsair.

Though you do seem to have bad luck... Did you find your missing CPU?

You do realize that most "lifetime" warranties mean that the product has a lifetime specified by the manufacturer?

i went to town and bought another i5, because i was impatient and just wanted to get a system running again

however now that the PSU is broke and couriers don't deliver until tuesday, i probably could have saved the money and effort

i'm in the process of getting refunded for the missing/lost first i5

bad luck, eh, just about. the day I get it all wired up and it boots, I will fucking cum rainbows

On the other hand, I've got a new processor here that's been waiting since Thursday to be installed but I haven't done so yet. Haven't had issues before, but now I is scared.... and lazy.
