My OCZ Vendetta 2 was a fucking pain in the ass to put the fan on/connect to the motherboard. But my Noctua NH-U12P SE2 was perfect. If you are looking for a replacement uzi, I highly recommend the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 (from my experience).

yeah my heatsink has been a fucking nightmare. it's connected to the mobo with 3 screws instead of 4 right now, because the 4th just won't go in with any reasonable amount of persuasion. gonna snap the mobo if i put any more pressure on it to fit in. lined up the backplate just about as well as i could, too. just a pain in the ass.

I had some trouble like that with my cooler. It was as though the 4 screw holes weren't aligned with the ones on the MoBo. Managed to force it eventually, though...

And I also had rubber 'screw' things to hold the fans on the heatsink, but they do the job really, really well for me.

I have a Thermaltake Frio.

i just don't see the point in the rubber things. they're fucking stupid. what's wrong with a screw like every other heatsink?

alright, so im guessing my original problem was the power supply...

just set everything up with my new rig, wrestled with it for a while and got to that magical turn on moment...

and no-thing, again. so with a new mobo, cpu, and everything else... that means it can only be the PSU, right?

off i trot to buy a corsair 600w... more delays

edit: standard 600W, 650W SLi-Compliant or 650w Modular? will the basic 600W do the job i need? ta

the computer shop stocked me a new one but it was a generic, no-brand 850w so i haven't bought it yet

although i'll have to wait until tuesday for a delivery of a corsair from overclockers...

so, 1) which corsair should i get? 2) should i just go for the standard-brand PSU the shop has, for convenience?

that shop sounded like a bunch of wind up merchants, i wouldn't give them any money even if it saved you a bit of time

plus it was a no name brand, might as well wait for the corsair

Any of the corsairs would be fine. Don't go for some shitty no-name brand. Modular is handy but obviously costs more, your choice.

Wow, a HX-series? That was bad advice, IMO, unless you wanted modular, I guess.

I only have the TX650 for my i7 system. £80 on OCuK

I said for me personally. Because I do prefer modular and don't mind paying an extra $20 for it...

HX series a bad advice? Where has this world gone to... :S

Being modular isn't the only difference between those two.

I wouldnt say the HX series is bad advice, overclockers is. It's the most overpriced site in the UK.
#edit: this difference is only £5 or so, i just dont like the site

modular power supplies allow you to remove all the cables that you're not using, giving you a tidier build
