Fuck the WHO. Bunch of socialist idiots.Turquoise wrote:
Not according to the WHO. France is repeatedly ranked highly among nations involving care and access. Now, admittedly, we have one of the best systems for advanced care.JohnG@lt wrote:

For everyday care though... France is basically the same quality and much more affordable. Not necessarily. The patient to doctor ratio in America is actually worse than in most of Europe.JohnG@lt wrote:

Now, apparently, we're better than Canada and Australia in that respect.Waiting times vary by location. The VA system is supposedly pretty bad, but France's system is nothing like that -- at least according to the WHO. Now, I'll concede that I've never been to France, but I suppose maybe a French member here could confirm what I've read.JohnG@lt wrote:
and aren't as willing to 'go the extra mile'. You're just another number in socialized medicine and they're simply trying to get through their day with as little hassle as possible, same as any other salaried government employee. Trust me, I've been dealing with military and VA care for the past decade and you would never want to deal with either if there was a commercial option available. You can ask any single veteran the same thing and they will give the same answer. Government salaried doctors are awful. I once sat in a doctors office for sixteen hours with what I thought was a hernia. Most excruciating thing I've ever experienced. Turns out I had a staph infection. The waiting period is how they weed out those who 'don't really need care' from those that do. Fucked up innit?
If a private practice doctor had done the same thing to me there would've been a lawsuit. I can go into the walk in clinic and be seen in under a half hour.
Still, there are parts of America where waiting times are bad. The ERs in my city are often pretty clogged, for example, and they're private.
Sorry to hear about your experience with the VA though....
so what are you going to do, legislate it?Pubic wrote:
Getting fat, suffering from diabetes and having a heart attack costs the taxpayer money, and will cause a few grey hairs for loved ones. People have a responsibility to their friends, family and community to eat responsibly.
If people prove themselves incapable of eating responsibly, there needs to be something to discourage them from doing so - something other than the knowledge that they're fucking themselves up, because clearly that just isn't enough.
Fuck off Nazi.Pubic wrote:

That said, we don't want to go removing choices either, because if we do so then we will become dirty freedom-hating islamic communist liberals. Linking tax on food to a food's impact on health is possibly one of the fairer options.
Well, that was a reasonable response.JohnG@lt wrote:

fuck off, and then do a research n00b.Pubic wrote:
burnzz, if you're going to tell people to "do a research", you'd do well to research basic grammar first.
It's the same fucking thing. If you raise the price of one thing at the expense of another, people gravitate towards the cheaper product. This is almost universal. It's the protectionist pipedream at the macro level and it's the controlling statists pipedream at the micro level. It is 100% about control and limiting peoples options.Turquoise wrote:
He specifically said that he didn't want to remove people's choices. He's talking about certain taxes. That's not Nazist.
Ok, so you're just a fascist then.Pubic wrote:

JohnG@lt, I'm suggesting linking food tax to food health impacts, not the conquest of Europe/extermination of Jews and other groups. Apples would become cheaper.

That being said, this forum is on the internet, so where I live really doesn't determine if and how frequent I post.

I'm familiar with Mill. I studied a little about him and his ideas, but I'm more of a fan of Thomas Paine.JohnG@lt wrote:
