Well, if nothing else, he defies the obese American stereotype.  Granted, Bush was pretty fit as well.
Sad as it seems you have to be somewhat easy on the eyes to get elected. *
Anyone who listened to the NIXON - KENNEDY debate on the radio thought Nixon destroyed Kennedy. Anyone who watched on TV said Kennedy did slightly better.

* there are exceptions at lower levels and corruption will circumvent this rule ( IE hillary and obama's senate seats )
Yeah, that is a classic case of that.  It is sad that appearances play such a big part in elections, but I guess that's as inevitable as human nature.

PS Turquoise,

For the record you are an educated, level headed gentlemen who I respect. You are one of a dwindling few who still bring credibility and progress to these forums.

I enjoy debating with you as well.

No, he doesn't. Reenacting is all about reliving history. History shouldn't be censored. Go to a Holocaust museum sometime and they'll have a recreation of a gas chamber. It doesn't mean they want to gas the guests
I went to Auschwitz once and had to throw up afterwards. Reliving History is a lot of times a miserable morbid fest.
Good. If you're sickened by it you're not likely to repeat it. Thats one of the points of re-enactments.
