go to wiki and find the numeric value clay has

then enter it in the blank box in cartograph

EDIT: Easy way to find clay is to get in your boat and sail around... bring torches and some 5 shovels and you will have all you need...

(oh extra boats come in handy too if the 1st one breaks)

Couldn't get the video to work.. it's basically a sky-level water slide.

I believe you can't.
If you enter a decimal value for a certain block type, that type only will be displayed.

As a workaround, simply render a normal map, then one with clay only.
You can easily watch them with Windows' image preview, since both rendered map images will have the same size.
Put your mouse cursor over a clay deposit, then switch to the normal map to see where it is.

tbh you don't need to look for clay like that, it's easier just to sail along the coast.. in non-snow maps it's relatively common OUTSIDE! your spawn-given area...

I've found exactly 25 blocks of clay, and they were under water.

Or you could merge the images with photoshop. First highlighting the clay of course.

Yeah, I was trying to do that but they weren't lining up correctly.

I'm going to attribute the love I've seen people have for it with a cross between graphics nostalgia and the addictiveness of customization. There's something endearing about huge blocky pixels that takes a certain personality to get.

So I built a moat around my castle and tried to make it so mobs would be pulled under and drown, then the current would drag their items to me, but the water isn't extending far enough.

How do I make the water reach further? D:

You don't, you move your glass walls closer

You should use the white sheep wool blocks for the windmill's sails and wooden planks for the rotor.

Hmm...
For me it's not graphics nostalgia at all.
In fact, with such a low resolution and no anti-aliasing, I have to constantly concentrate to spot things that are a bit further away, which actually gave me a headache last night.

I think it's a mix of exploring and collecting for me, in that you explore caves and endless landscapes and search for ores and minerals, as well as trying to craft all the recipes and collect all unique items, which requires you to search for dungeons.
And I haven't even started to build minecarts and tracks, as I barely have enough iron to craft me my basic tools.

I think in the future, the planned adventure mode will cater a lot to the exploring & collecting fans.
Also, I think there should be constant updates (weekly or monthly) with more or less added content (recipes and items), so that you can always continue your search for new stuff.

Eh? Which minecraft are you playing, my resolution goes as high as the monitor... "Maximize window" and there you go...

Notch used to do a regular friday update afaik, however at the moment he seems busy with investing the millions he earned and making a company

I really wish there was a diving bell or a torch or something that makes underwater excavations less of a total pain in the ass. It's annoying having to replace every block of water with sand or dirt in order to get whats at the bottom :p
