My CPU Usage (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) in the windows task manager is pretty high. It usuallly centers to 50-55... but when I first bought this computer it wold usually stay at 0-1..I leave my computer on the whole day.. then when I come back from work ill play BF2for a while.. then i turn it off..why is it so high?.. is it because of the temperature on my comp? or is cause of the prmgs im running? but thats what has me confused... Im not running any prgms when its at 50... this worries me, cuz i have seen people's comps used as zombie computers which lags them like hell and makes thier cpu usage all high and shit.

what it was was my Mcafee Spamkiller, which used 50 CPU's. I deleted it and its alright now, i noticed that was holding me back when i was connecting to servers, now im in the top 5 to get on first
McAfee Spamkiller? You mean your AntiVirus? First I don't recommend deleting it. Simply just turn off the file checking while playing the game. I never recommend anyone to ever delete their Anti-Virus because these days its just too wide spread. Adaware or Spybot are also good things to have, update and run once in a while.revolution.inc wrote:

Nope its spamkiller.. i bought a subscription with anti-virus,firewall,privacy,and spamkiller.. i noticed how my spamkiller was check my email addys every 2 mins which slowed me down. I dont even need it cuz i hardly ever get any spam.kilroy0097 wrote:

With BF2 requiring so much of your system resources a "clean" running machine is usually a necessity. Unless you have the cash to foot the bill for 4 gigs of ram and some ungodly processor setup. Don't allow anything (and I mean anything) outside of operating system necessities to run on boot up. Having less than 20 processes at boot (for a personal gaming rig) is a good rule of thumb to go by. And in this case less is better. If you can get it to 15 procs at boot, even better. Make all those antivirus/spam/spyware scanners stop their realtime modes. Just do manual scans at regular intervals. Kill everything not required like Quicktime. qttask.exe is insidious about working it's way into your running processes list.
