Actually the blue mosque is not original. It's called Agia Sofia and it was originally a byzantine era christian orthodox church. The turks only added the surrounding towers later.Macbeth wrote:

Sort of like how the Cathedral of Cordoba was a Roman temple then a Catholic church then a Mosque and then finally a Catholic church. The blue Mosque though is original IIRC.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sultan_Ahmed_MosqueThe design of the Sultan Ahmed Mosque is the culmination of two centuries of both Ottoman mosque and Byzantine church development. It incorporates some Byzantine elements of the neighboring Hagia Sophia with traditional Islamic architecture and is considered to be the last great mosque of the classical period. The architect has ably synthesized the ideas of his master Sinan, aiming for overwhelming size, majesty and splendour.

I really like the Fallingwater style. Was the inspiration for the house at the end of North by Northwest.
75 years old, why?KuSTaV wrote:

So, while I was upnorth waiting on my sister to have her twins, I discovered a local architect that built these incredibly cute little houses. The are called "hobbit house" by some and "mushroom house" by others. But he builds them out of stones and boulders. His name is Earl Young. He is a boulder architect. Google Earl young houses(i will post pic once i am not on phone). Very cute.

Places like Angkor Wat in south-east asia are pretty freaking cool... theres always some place new to explore because they're always so big.
Also I swear I saw the author Matthew Reilly when I was there.
I remember one episode of Grand Designs Revisited where this English couple got a Huf-Haus. Brilliant concept.Uzique wrote:
