Nikkolas Robert Brennan and Cody Clifford Defausses, both 18, were charged a day after Const. John Atkinson, 37, was killed outside a convenience store.
The plainclothes officer, a 14-year veteran of the force and father of a six-year-old girl and nine-year-old boy, was shot as he approached two suspects involved in a drug transaction in a parking lot outside the store, said Roger Mortimer, Windsor's deputy police chief.
The Windsor teens also face a drug possession charge involving crack cocaine, he said. A handgun was recovered at the scene, Mortimer added.
The suspects appeared in court Saturday and were remanded. Police believe the two teens were the only people involved.
Windsor resident Dennis Rochon was sitting on his apartment balcony in the city's east end when he heard three loud shots just after 2 p.m. on Friday.
He said he saw Atkinson's body lying in the street, bleeding from the gunshot wounds.
Atkinson is believed to be the first officer in the history of the Windsor force to be killed on duty, said Windsor police Chief Glenn Stannard.
