But most people who become prostitutes do it because they don't have to declare their income and pay taxes on it, the easy money has nothing to do with the sex trade being easy but with the fact that is not a regulated industry.

Given the choice between paying 25% tax to the govt and being protected by the Police or 50+% to a pimp/brothel owner/trafficker which do you think the average girl would pick?

Granted registration is one of the biggest hurdles for the part-timers, and is a factor against easy cash for them.

Put 21% on the girl service and then tell me she'll have the same amount of clients.

That depends on the clientele.  As I mentioned in another post, most consumers (when given a choice between a disease free prostitute or one that might have something) will pay the extra amount for health reasons.

For the ones that wouldn't, they'd pay for sex regardless of legality.

1) they need fast money

or...

2) they are sex addicted

or...

3) They have no other skills and no opportunities to get them

Many hookers pay tax BTW.

Some girls trade access to their sex, and expect the guy to pay for everything for this access. They can rationalize it however they want, but they are prostitutes.

Pretty easy to avoid these girls, though. Generally their tits and ass are all they have going for them.  Talk to 'em for 5 minutes, real easy to tell they've got nothing going on in their head.

What i'm saying is most prostitutes do it somewhat secretly, living almost double livess,no real names and cash on the nighstand.
Once they become legal sex workers it's another ballgame, in places like Holland can be different but in countries where the stigma on prostitutes is high i doubt most would keep doing it

Well, I'll agree that social stigmas would still be an obstacle for regulating prostitution.  That is a difficult factor to calculate.
