  Out of say $750. you bring home approx $400. You really think you get $18200. back on your Yearly Tax Return ? Really ? You really do ?

How many people work off the books ? No one knows for sure. Do you know why ? Because they are off the Books So Cancel that fact.

As a former employer in a small business 83 to 98 ( 15 people give or take ) I had very few people work of the books because it's Risk, It's money out the window, you cant declare it. So  XL that Factoid you toss around.

The employer is committing Less of a crime ~ is he is Merely employing some one who lied about their status of citizenship ?

It is an employers responsibility to check the status of residence/ visa for an employee. Being ignorant of the law is not an excuse from the law. In Taiwan employers usually get a hefty fine for hiring people who don't have working visas.

Yes, I have dug around in a field at Gettysburg. In the railroad gap by the College to be precise. Walked away with a handful of minié balls.

Wouldn't it make more sense to let churches decide if they want to hold gay marriages or not?

As for scams involving insurance and embezzlement, churches themselves already do a lot of this thanks to our tax exemption of religion, but I never hear any conservatives complain about that.

When they expanded the railroad gap about fifteen years ago they exposed a lot of ground under the battlefield. There was a big hoopla about desecrating a national memorial and quite a bit of controversy about a land swap the College did. So, my father being the Civil War buff he is, dragged me down there to see the damage they had done and we spent a few hours digging in the newly exposed ground. Found an old Mule (Brass) bridle bit also. I dileberatly didn't research that because I didn't want to find out it was from a 1905 Beer Wagon or some dam thing.
