You are wrong. Can you make a single item that you use on a daily basis? Could you replace any of the items you would need for survival if the shit hit the fan? No. Ok, so stop saying idiotic shit like we should go back to a barter system and plan for the end of civilization.
John, have you been in a third world country outside of the middle east?  Many people in tropical and sub-tropical Asian countries live just fine without the necessities of modern life.
Sure, but I wouldn't trade my standard of living for theirs.
But you are arguing that nobody would be able to survive, or very few people anyways. Not the quality of life. I mentioned many times I like my stuff, but could definitely live without them only to have you tell me I cant.

Nah, I wouldn't say John Galt is self-righteous. He's a libertarian like me only much smarter, so we both agree it is up to you to try and live a self-sufficient life as much as possible, but how realistic that may be is certainly questionable, given the world today. It was in no way questioning how much a of man you are.

To be honest, you trying to prove how big of a man you are would suggest you are more inclined to just beat up anyone smaller than you and take what they have, which is probably most people, than keep to yourself and tend to your land.

You couldn't have nearly the quality of life that you think you would have. Something as simple as a steel knife would eventually wear out and have to be replaced. You most certainly could live completely off the land, but your standard of living wouldn't be all that far removed from that of an animal. What I was trying to say, if ineloquently, is that most people who consider themselves to be survival ready really don't have any clue as to the magnitude of what they are talking about. If society did collapse, it would take 99% of the people currently living within our civilization with it, and that includes the vast majority of people who style themselves survival ready.

"Ah, you miserable creatures! You who think that you are so great! You who judge humanity to be so small! You who wish to reform everything! Why don't you reform yourselves? That task would be sufficient enough."

I know this John, for I have stated it multiple times in this thread. My beef with you is that you continuously argue that I couldnt survive and then when I educated you that Im not some hippie slouch, and that I am somewhat of a trained man you whipped your dick out for a pissing contest to make sure I knew you were beter.

If the plain indians still traveled the great plains and hunted buffalo, I would suggest living with them for a few years, but they don't. They tended to be rather tall and healthy back in their day.
