You're missing the whole point of the society we live in. No one can perform all of the tasks that we require in our daily lives by themself. Could I cultivate my own food? Sure. But I can't drill the oil, refine it, and ship it to where I live by myself. Since I can't do these things, I'm reduced to plowing my fields with horses or oxen. Yes, it was done for thousands of years, but at what cost in terms of hours wasted vs powering up a combine and having it plant and harvest for me? Then there is the problem of mining and refining the iron ore necessary to create my plow and harnesses, the nails to build my home etc. We are completely and utterly dependent on each other for survival. This doesn't make us weaker as a species or individuals, it just reflects reality.
