historically its never quite worked out for white folk. As you were...It worked out pretty fucking great for white people just not the recipeint of the shitty trade.
Malloy must go
So Im either right or Puerto Ricans are shitty snackers.deeznutz1245 wrote:
Natives did pretty good with it for hundreds of years. My kid does ok with it in kindergarden at lunch but we are white so I validate my point. Yesterday he got a moonpie AND Scooby Doo fruit snacks from some kid and he gave up 2 pieces of gum and some shitshow cookies my wife baked.

Even they used stuff like wampum to facilitate trades. Money is just more convenient to a ridiculous extent than a barter system.deeznutz1245 wrote:

Not really. Wampum wasnt factored in until the Dutch came through New England and had the means to catch beaver in mass quantities due to their technology. Wampum was usually shells and exotic rocks the Pequots used for "bling". They hardly used it amongst themselves as currency. That is until white people came creating a demand for it.JohnG@lt wrote:

Right, but you're talking about very small subsistence societies where everyone was responsible for gathering food. I can trade you an axe for a pipe, and we're both happy because they fill a need. This is all small scale though.deeznutz1245 wrote:

So go live on a hippie commune somewhere. I have zero desire to go back to life as a caveman.deeznutz1245 wrote:

Of course, life in the state of nature is "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short".Cybargs wrote:

What is it? Is it because they can trade shit with other people who have other things? Or does it have something to do with the fact most major cities originated as trading ports that are near bodies of water?Cybargs wrote:

Actually I did it from my iphone thank you. However, the problem is just that. The only reason we would spend most of our thought process on surviving is because we as humans have become domesticated and can no longer employ basic survival skills. Our technology is great, and I use it every day without a doubt. But only a true moron would honestly believe that our resources are tangible and unlimited. It probably wont happen in our lifetime, but some of us have children and cant help but wonder when that day will come when everything runs out. Most of you computer dependant little fat asses will be dead, and the sad part is deep down you know it.JohnG@lt wrote:

Me? To an extent. We have a vegetable garden so we usually dont have to buy any unless it's something we want and dont have like asparugus or something. I also allow one of the farmers to use some of my property for his cattle so he could expand. In return a get two cows a year. I know how to dress an animal because I hunt but I honestly have no clue how to butcher a cow so they do it for me. Im sure if I had to I could learn. My wife and I make our own pasta and bake our own bread. Its not that we're hippies, its just that we dont like processed food and are conscious about our health. Since our second child she stays at home so we have time to do all this stuff.Phrozenbot wrote:

Those are all good habits. Cooking your own food, hunting, growing your own garden, making use of your land by allowing a rancher to use it. +1deeznutz1245 wrote:

You're missing the whole point of the society we live in. No one can perform all of the tasks that we require in our daily lives by themself. Could I cultivate my own food? Sure. But I can't drill the oil, refine it, and ship it to where I live by myself. Since I can't do these things, I'm reduced to plowing my fields with horses or oxen. Yes, it was done for thousands of years, but at what cost in terms of hours wasted vs powering up a combine and having it plant and harvest for me? Then there is the problem of mining and refining the iron ore necessary to create my plow and harnesses, the nails to build my home etc. We are completely and utterly dependent on each other for survival. This doesn't make us weaker as a species or individuals, it just reflects reality.deeznutz1245 wrote:

edit: besides, I love the irony in the fact Im told im the caveman right after Im enlightened as to why people have always moved towards cities. Um, you live in fucking Queens which is a bigger shit show of a jungle than Jurassic Park. I would love to compare the crime rate of your residence versus my more rural town. Not that you wrote that, but I love the consistency in the logic.
That doesn't answer the question at all.deeznutz1245 wrote:

This is how humans have developed so far so quickly.JohnG@lt wrote:
