Even jesus was wearing 3D glasses, that's how old it is. It has been around for decades, it has been tried to hype a few times as well. After Beowulf 3D I figured the extra price at the cinema (which is already ridiculously high without glasses and another 2€ to wear glasses) wasn't worth it, for the two times you thought: oh, that was neat.
I heard that some movies are entirely made for 3D now and therefor better than the one or two effects, but can't be bothered to see them yet. We'll see how long it sticks around, and if it becomes the standard eventually, well then so be it.
