I'm thinking of remounting my stock e7200 HSF to see what kind of temps I'll get with it... I'm getting awful temps for a F7P; I've remounted and regooped three times and I'm getting temps in the mid 40C range at stock clocks and idle.

Is it humid? My desktop ranges from anywhere 28c to 41c idle with a f7p rev2.

Not a lot.

I reseated my stock HSF and temps are no more than 3C higher than before... I really can't be assed to reinstall the F7P, also the smaller profile of the stock HSF allows my 120mm exhaust pull more air out.

£500 is good for quite a bit of computer parts. It's all so bloody cheap nowadays.

My load temps with LinX are almost 10C (I'm hitting 58C right now) cooler on the stock cooler than my F7P... but the idle is a degree or two hotter.

I think I will swap my HD 5870 to much cheaper ASUS GTX 460 768MB. cooler, quieter and not that much slower (when overclocked) than HD 5870...

I know, 1GB would be better but that is like 5% more performance at my 1680x1050 resolution for 25% extra cost so fuck that.

199€ for the gtx, I figure I get 320€ out of my HD 5870 and bank the exchange for better days. 460 simply rapes the radeon in bang for buck.
