It's actually quite easy to catch a bird of prey. Small wooden box with a mesh top and lil' slipknots below the mesh... Insert rodent into said box. You'll have a bird in no time. My co-worker is into Falconry. He catches one (has to be a year old) and the subjects it to specific training it for a time. Weight is monitored and that determines when it is time to fly it.
