My manager at Ford took early retirement from Ford due to 'stress', in fact he was a total arse, also a director of a Ford supplier (not allowed) and earning more from bogus overtime than from his basic salary, plus kickbacks (he had Ford employ the son of one of his fellow directors to do nothing on U$100k/year).

Lazy corrupt people can and do make a lot of money out of large corporations and the public service, you can ignore it and focus on minimising your tax contribution or drive yourself mad - the choice is yours.
