I'll be using the SSD for the OS and my school files, and I'll stick the 250GB 2.5" HDD that came with lappy into the CD drive bay with an adapter bracket for my downloading needs.
Plus I'll dump all downloads into my server every once in a while.

I'd trade this for a 60GB SSD any day.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

you know you can stream your porn and other files from your main pc
Yeah, it's cheaper, easier and more reliable to just buy a bigger HDD than paying for the powerbill you get from running a desktop 24/7menzo wrote:

To return to the topic of this thread, for just one brief moment, I got myself a nice, 8-port GbE switch the other day.
Obviously, it was free, and that thanks to a design fault in this model. You see, it's not very efficient, and it's very cheaply built. As soon as the capacitors in it wear the slightest, it'll turn unstable and fuck you over as soon as you load it down. However, this little mod does the trick to get it back on its feet:
