on my new account i just made it to the rank where i get an unlock, and everytime i sign into the account it does the drum roll thing for the weapon unlocks, and where the guns picture would show up, its just black. and where the weapon name would be says "undefined". so if anyone could help me with this its much appreciated.

the only time EA put in undefined unlocks was when EF came out and they integrated the new unlocks into the account system before EF actually was out, leaving the unlocks for the EF weapons blank. A lot of people came out of that with unlocks they didn't want...
But since EF has been out for a long time now, I would have thought that issue had been resolved....
You can choose a blank unlock, but if you have only one left, it may turn out you get the wrong weapon. I did gamble and got the P90....

please be more specific. Do you have only vanilla BF2 installed or all the expansions and boosters ?

hmm, so you have none of the expansions or booster packs installed ? That's weird. what's with the account of your brother ? does he have the same problem when trying to choose an unlock ?
just to get this straight: You are Corporal, which means you have got somewhere between 800 and 2,500 points, two unlocks available, and when you try to select an unlock, you only see a black pic and no weapon, the weapon name being "undefined". Is that correct ?
What's your PID, by the way ? Does your stats sheet say that you have unlocks selected ?

well, the stats sheet http://bf2s.com/player/69987608/ says you have 582 global points, and as a Lance corporal you have only one unlock available.
As I have said in the post in the BF2:Chatter subforum, I don't think there is much we can do from here, since even on the official EA forums they have no solution for that problem.
They way I see it you have three options:
1.) do nothing, wait if EA does something about it or the problem fixes itself. Might just be a temporary glitch.
2.) contact EA customer support. Good luck with that...
3.) select an unlock even if you can't see it. One guy in the chatter thread tried that and even that didn't work.
My personal opinion: the next booster pack ( Armored Fury ) is supposed to come out just after 1.3, in the next few days or so. It could be that EA fucked up the unlocks just like they did with EF.
I broke the 50,000 points last night, which means I should get another unlock when I log in tonight.
I'll report back to you when that happens and if I encountered the same problem.
Not much more I can do from here, I am afraid, sorry.
EDIT: after reading through the EA forums thread, I'd say it is most likely a gamespy account issue, caused by mod interference. They had the same problem just before EF came out, with the exception that you actually were able to select a "blank" unlock and get the weapon behind it.
If that is the case, I am afraid we'll have to wait until 1.3 is released to fix this.

Same thing happened to me last night. I read yesterday somewhere that this also happened just before either SF or EF came out......can't remember which one and may have even been both. My guess is EA is preparing for the release of AF in the not too distant future............but I could be wrong.

btw, I was promoted yesterday evening, and was able to chose both my new unlocks without any problems.
Seems it was just a temporary issue.
