First, if you dont know about this subject, please read in the order given below:

After reading that, what do you think about it?

Also, do you think that the Commonwealth should become a state? Of course, for you is not the same since you don't have to live this shit, and you haven't been in the island, living, to really know the best choise, but just tell us, what u think.

In my opinion, this chaos, at the beginning, was caused not by politicians, governor, or any senator, but by the people itself. Ever since the 2 main political parties wwere created in the island shortly after US made us a commonwealth and liberated us from the Spanish abuse, there have been a WAR between them. The PNP (the party that wants statehood) and the PPD (party that wants the island to stay in a commonwealth) have never been all right in any desition made between them. On the 2004 elections, the winner was going to be Pedro Rossello from the PNP, he was going to won for more than 3,000 votes, but the people that want total independence 4 the island, voted for Acevedo Vila (from the PPD and Present Governor) because they knew that if Pedro wins, STATEHOOD IS IMINENT. After all, the whole House of Representatives and Senate of the Island were fro the PNP, and the GOvernor was from the PPD. So there the BIG WAR began. Everything that the governor wanted to do, the senate refused, and vice versa. Every new law was turned down. Everything got fucked only because a group of 5,000 people, to evade statehood, voted for a Mixed Government, leading to the chaos right now.

BTW... im puertorican, i live here, i have to live this everyday, i want statehood becuase its the only way that this goverment will get out of the economical deficit it is on since 1998. So please, KEEP RESPECT. If you dont have anything to say but a racist or slang comment, keep it to yourself. But PLEASE, tell me what u think, ALLWAYS KEEPING RESPECT.

By the way... here is a nice joke made by puertoricans to insult the politicians doing nothing throughout this crisis:

On the Senate in PR:

Senate in session

Some puertoricans enter the Senate Chamber, and start screaming and saying:

Assh**e!

IGNORANT!

Criminal!

Violator!

Fag!

Idiot!

Rat!

Chicken S**t!

Disrespectful bastard!

Motherfuc**r!!!

Son of  a Bitc*!

Then a senator tells another one: "You hear?, this sh*t is heating up, The riot will start soon."

And the other seator says: "Dont be a moron, There just calling us to make sure everyones present!"

I knew very little about Puerto Rico other than that it was a country in the Carribean.  So, a google/wiki mission followed, and I learned a lot.

After reading up I'd have to say from an outsiders perspective PR may have something of a case for it, PR did fight the British in the war of independence...

If you want the states and the states wants you, I see no problem.

Let them be lucky number 51. I like PR, helps I have some in the family.

Too bad their provincial government, much like ours, can't budget money.
