Have used both, just wondering what people's preferences are. I've got Microsoft Office and have used that the most lately, but is it worth switching back over?

Without a doubt in the world, Microsoft Office any day.

MS office. It has grown on me over the last 15 years.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

MS Office. Free software is great and certainly has it's place, but stuff like OO and Gimp is just utter wank compared to the commercial software.

kgood. Heh, I half-expected everyone to rip me a new one for using MO. "Microsoft is shit! Open-source stuff is way better!"

MO, simply because I hate worrying about any chance of feature incompatibility.

I use GIMP at work because they won't foot the bill for Photoshop.

Am I the only OOo user on here?

I like it, because I never really do anything that requires the extra features of Microsoft Office.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Microsoft Office. I don't want to worry about compatibility issues, and it is a really nice piece of software (using '07) compared to the free ones (IMO).

All i've ever been exposed to in the corporate world is MS.  So, Office.

Considering MO can get got for practically free, there really is no reason to get OO.

Perhaps, but I don't reallly care. Open Office does everything I want, five times over, and it's all open source and nice. No licenses, no hassle, just to download and run.

wow, leet.

shame adobe photoshop whups the ass off it.

to me it seems like the choice to use linux is like the conscious choice to force yourself to use apps of a 1998-standard, and gain some sort of weird 'kudos' for it. mystified.

No.

I use it on my laptop because it runs much, much quicker. I only use GIMP 'cause I haven't downloaded PS yet.

MS Office, nothing wrong with OO (especially if all you do is write papers and typical stuff), but given its all free I stick with MS Office.

I used iWork last semester for all my uni notes. Much preferred over Microsoft's Office for Mac offering..

MS Office for sure. I have quite a few handy keyboard shortcuts memorised that I think I'd just lose a lot of productivity with anything else.
