I noticed there are a bunch of Asian message parlors in my city now and you know that whole stereotype about Asian message parlors offering happy endings? So I actually thought about it for a second and doesn't keeping prostitution illegal cause a bunch more social problems than legalized prostitution and the opportunity for adultery? Like

* Diseases
* Organized crime controlling the market
* Sex slavery and human trafficking

Why shouldn't I be able to pay a perfectly consenting adult for a quick hand job? Why does this arbitrary limit on my personal happiness exist? Does anyone here actually support keeping prostitution illegal?

The only two people who probably want to keep it illegal are serial killers and extreme Christians.

On a sidenote: I think laws like that set arbitrary limits on personal happiness based on religious morality do more to make a populace bitter and resentful than bring people and communities together. I do think that a good chunk of violent massacres and other 'senseless crimes' could have been prevented if we allowed young people the ability to drink at 18, or see a hooker legally at 18, or smoke pot with their friends on the weekend without fear of getting arrested.

I just learned something recently. Apparently in California you can be 18 and have sex with somebody 2 years younger. I thought it had to be 18 and 18.

Australia for one. And as far as I can tell lots of other places too, such as the UK, Canada, New Zealand, a lot of Europe. But you'd probably have to check with the locals.

Maybe not, but for "private entrepreneurs" it would mean:

- Paying taxes.
- Being eligible for pension.
- Taxing VAT for "services", I.e. running a business.
- Getting loans.
- Labour union.
etc.

Basically, being in the system.

Trafficking/slavery could be reduced by a saturated market. Once legal prostitutes (with obviously a higher status than illegal ones) would be in the market, who would do an illegal one?
