With that said though, I do find maths interesting, it's just that most of the time, that enthusiasm is sucked right out by terrible, terrible lecturers who are more concerned with writing their books than teaching.

I was blown away by the shitness of the lecturers here.
One of them actually said 'I really do have much better things to be doing than lecturing to you lot." in the first lecture.
Maths is simple and elegant, if you can 'get' it its a doddle - requires careful teaching though.

Yuri also said, referring to school leavers, that at times, its luck of the draw with math teachers - you get good ones and you get bad ones. I looked at my friend (who also had the same grade 12 math teacher) and laughed.

I know, and thats what infuriates me. Given the right teacher, I'm certain that I'd find maths pretty easy, but pretty much every math teacher I've had has been arrogant and impatient, and they tend to favour the ones that already know what they're doing.
I had a teacher in year 12 who whenever he was asked a question, would always reply with "come in and see me at lunchtime". You'd go in at 1:05pm to wait, and he'd eventually rock up at 1:40, still eating lunch. He would then continue to eat while half assedly trying to explain something and you got nowhere.

You know what would be cool?
If mobiles could put themselves on vibrate only when they detect they're at a particular place.
So when i'm connected to the tower closest to uni, the mobile auto changes to vibrate only.. but as soon as i leave, back to normal
