The Prestige - 9/10.
can't really believe i overlooked it. got back around to watching it thanks to miggle's suggestion and a recent discussion on Nolan (triggered by, of course, inception). the film is really well-done. i feel i must say, though, that the majority of my high-rating comes from the plot/story itself and not from the
filmic attributes. the cinematography, acting, setting/make-up and directing was all top-notch-- but it's the story and the underlying themes taken from the novel that really MAKE this film a watch-again/read-again experience. the film's shortness actually seems to have a danger of reducing the characters down into simple-attributes/embodiments of a 'theme', and doesn't fully develop certain aspects of the storytelling in enough depth/detail.
still very good, though. will be watching it many times again.
