I said even with qualifications, assuming that both applicants have around the same level of qualifications. I know a lot of rich kids who are fucking retarded and lazy. I can guarantee even with daddy's connections, they'd probably get a low paying desk job unless they can prove otherwise.Uzique wrote:
and what about the possibility of a friend with qualifications.
all you guys are assuming that privately educated people are somehow coddled through life and don't do well in any subject/area... how wrong.
there's a place here for that sort of rich kid... it's called the foreign office... and it furthers that wealth .

I thought I made it clear I don't want to discuss those allegations.
There was one thing we did once though that looking back was borderline. We all stripped down to our Boxers and Gas masks, went into the next sections room and abducted one of their guys and threw him in a cold bath.
And there goes my last shred of dignity.

People get pissed when someone gets parachuted in full stop, esp into mgmt positions.

Well I'm talking about this comment that you made Uzique?
"i don't need work experience because the (high)-school i 'graduated' from gives me better job prospects than you, anyway.
don't act like you were working those part-time jobs to build an impressive corporate resume; you needed money, i do not.
and if you aren't denying HS grads are pointless... i have to question... did you even read mine and usm's posts? jesus christ."
Maybe I was reading it out of context, but it seemed smug and arrogant. The working the part-time for money instead of a resume thing really pushed me to think that even if you get a good job you don't really need it. Now necessity and drive is usually what breeds a good employee.

financial comfort doesn't drill 'drive' out of people... there are many motivations for wanting to 'be your own person'. have you ever considered how one would rather be independent and not live off their parent's wealth? surely that would drive a 'rich kid' to work part-time and work just as hard to escape the preconceptions. also wealth, especially new-money wealth, is an ostentatious and silly thing. lots of kids of these families want to go into other areas that aren't money-incentivized, to 'become their own' person again and achieve according to their own interests and merit. it's such a stupid, bottom-up proletariat view to assume that poor kids will be better employees.cpt.fass1 wrote:

Most rich kids usually go to something that's more art or literature based, or go into public services and shit.Uzique wrote:

pretty much more conjecture, based off nothing...
almost every single 20yo international student at my school drives an audi/bmw/ferrari and does economics. furthering the business, not leaving it.

Uzique, I wasn't talking about others I was talking about that comment making it seem like you really don't care about the working aspect of things because you come from a well off family.
I know alot of rich kids, my sister went to private school in Chester, some of which are doing fine and good with their lives. Others have gone the path of drugs, so it really doesn't matter where you come from it's really what you do with it. But it must be nice knowing that if you wanted to, you do have the financial backing to make it happen.

If they're Asian, I can bet they were rich only in the last 3rd generations, not from a long long line.Uzique wrote:

well we're only talking about 'new money' anyway, cybargs... old money is an obvious do-nothing, that's kinda the whole point.

Are you sure? Many of those wealthy merchants moved to Hong Kong, Kowloon, and Taiwan when the Communists took over mainland China.Cybargs wrote:
