I'm in Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland, which is a sub tropical climate. During winter we average about 20-21 during the day and 11-12 overnight, though in the past couple years it's been a lot colder overnight during winter. We don't get a lot of rain during the winter as this happens a lot in our summers.
In Melbourne where Laura is it gets quite a bit colder, being a temperate climate. Probably average 4-5 overnight to 12-15 during the day, and it rains more in winter than summer usually. It can get a fair bit colder than this.
I used to live in Tasmania, the most southern state, it's an island. In winter it would average -1 - 3 overnight and 9-12 during the day, but would often get a bit colder. Some parts are colder than others; Liawenee (a small mountain town in Tasmania) would often be -12 overnight and -3 during the day.
So not as cold as a lot of Europe can get. We're pretty used to hot summers though; Melbourne had its hottest recorded temp last year in February of 47C, which was also the day of Black Saturday, one of the worst bushfires in Australian history.
