you posted the video to supplement an argument that london is becoming overtaken or somehow 'conquered' by islam. posting a video about jihadists (when imam's and clerics worldwide have pretty much denounced the jihad and said that the 'war on infidels' is nonsense) and then claiming that, because of some extremist and radical fringe-groups, lowing's point is in ANY way correct or credible...

we both interact with muslims in london, or at least have done. i myself on an almost-daily basis.

whenever lowing makes an intelligent point, i'll reply to it in full. how can you 'argue' against a literal-misunderstanding? how can you NOT come across as a 'know all' when the guy misinterprets the word 'ONLY' to suit his ideological purpose? a word has a fixed, concrete definition- it's inarguable, non-negotiable. if you fail to interpret what a simple sentence means, and then continue to hang your ENTIRE argument on the perceived 'meaning' of that sentence for 2 pages... do you blame people for getting a little short of patience?

Apathetic attitudes towards terrorist organisations are dangerous.

I would say they are less dangerous than negatively stereotyping an entire religion. We've had far more terrorist problems with Catholics in London than Muslims.

i don't really think the london train bombings were a fatal result of that sorta 'attitude'... a total failure in intelligence, yes. cracking down on fanaticism in the home office should have been higher on the agenda; they slipped up and dropped the ball on watching and preventing dangerous terrorist cells in the UK. but the implication of your argument is that a government should actively police and watch an entire religion of people - that's open, state-sponsored discrimination. over here in europe we can't get away with things like that: we cannot strip a person of their rights overnight, declare them an 'illegal combatant' and then detain them in a hidden-network of camps because of the sole crime that they are a MUSLIM. there is an approach to be taken in order to deal with fanaticism, fundamentalism and the terrorist-network... but openly supporting a form of islamophobia and state-suspicion of an entire PEOPLE is not that way forward. it breeds bigots like lowing, for one thing.

In what way do you think there is validity to it? In what way do you consider an Islamic extremist a rational or credible source (except for relating their direct experience of Islamic extremism - on a microcosmic scale it is valid, beyond that, not so much)?

erm...no. on 9/11 my sister was in DC. i was in the air flying over cleveland and that plane that crashed in PA was 4000 ft above me. my cousin was in the kobar towers when they blew up.

actually, not true, Islamic leaders promote it, moderate muslims engaged in violence over cartoons also emulate it. Protesters and their signs calling for violence also emulate it. Not just terrorists.
