bf3 will be scheduled for release at a time that EA deems most advantageous - calendar-wise, market-wise, consumer-wise
at a time that will most benefit their 'product portfolio' and 'maximize their profits'. it will not be scheduled for release when the game-developers say, ultimately and conclusively, that they are 'finished'. i think you are over-bestowing the people that work on bf3 with too many positive characteristics. they're squeezing out a product that they want to sell for as much money as possible. sorry if i seem cynical; im just being realistic.

How many PC exclusive shooters have come out in the past 5 years?GraphicArtist J wrote:
^ So in other words it will be a shit console port.
I guess I'm one of the few that still has faith in DICE and not the corporate greed that is EA.
How many shooters for PC haven't been straight console ports in the past 5 years?
Has dice made a good game since BF2?
the stupidity of the people excited for BF3 astounds me.
As much as I have enjoyed some of the spin off's like 2142 abd BC2, I'm sure the utter charm of BF2 won't be repeated. Hopefully people won't forget that BF2 was not some corporate brain child, rather sprang from the Desert Combat mod for BF 1942.Miggle wrote:

PC gaming was never huge. It has always been kinda a niche thing for techies who are willing to drop the cash and have the know how to put together a decent gaming rig.
years ago computers made you a nerd, and video games were for kids.
There is so much more that can be done with games now, and they appeal to a much broader audience.
This doesn't mean games are worse, and it doesn't mean no one plays on a computer...
I just means there are A LOT more shitty games and console players in between what was already there.

The difference between now and then is that now there is better documentation on shitty games.VicktorVauhn wrote:

There are also a lot more PC gamers with extra money to spend. That's one reason I don't think PC gaming is dying anytime soon.
pc games will die because hackers ruin the games. not to mention all the torrent shit.
honestly hacking isnt a big problem at all. maybe 0.1% of all players, so vastly exaggerated and wrongly accused.
also, chipped consoles shit away just as much money/sales as torrents, really.
you tend to find that people torrent games as a symbolic act to say that the game sucks dick and doesn't deserve money.

the only system that doesn't have to deal with piracy is the PS3, and it hasn't done done it much good.
I think in my lifetime I've seen about 4 hackers.

I have a mate who bought a PS3 and he only has pirated games...
Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me
What planet are you from? piracy is seen in every platform. lol *rolls eyes*Miggle wrote:

I think it's just a chip and custom firmware.. then you can use torrented PS3 gaemz

But isn´t there still the issue of Blue Ray disc needed to burn those games onto?FloppY_ wrote:

yeah, this is all new since I was looking to pirate games on my PS3.
It's pretty much the only console you can't softmod so far though.

Most games that come out these days on PC are cross platform. All the PC games you see these days are just console games that are made to entertain the masses and make money and have been put on PC. You can see the difference between a shitty EA game that is made for profit and tahts why they release it on all platforms and another game like blizzard which is just for PC and has been built around competitive starcraft play in Korea.
It's probably much cheaper and faster to buy pirated games on the Taliban black market, than to import and wait for the game to arrive (with the possibility that the convoy carrying your package is getting roadside bombed).GraphicArtist J wrote:

So, no, not patriotic at all.

I sure as hell hope not. One thing that is starting to get extinct is a LAN option in multiplayer games. It sucks since we have our jolly lan parties once or twice a year.
Yes i do.Vilham wrote:
